Forums - Nintendo - The Conduit preview: Technically marvellous but it's not really much fun

I think Wii owners deserve a good online FPS game ... it's sad because I don't think this will be that game , the hype surrounding it is going to leave alot of people dissapointed.

IMO, any shooter on the Wii will 'automatically' be more fun than on its HD cousins due to the controls. Given that they are fixing the technical Wii issues, focusing on the controls - I expect this to be a LOT of fun.

Let the fear mongering begin - the media couldn't possibly let the Wii become the FPS console of choice ;)

Wow. Are you serious?

Yes. Not a single fps is on par with metroid prime 3 in the offline department.(this gen)

Aside from the fact that your comment offered no justification to what  Shams said , why the hell do you have to state opinion like it's fact ?

Because all fps I have played this gen have no good story what so ever... Cod5, halo3, killzone2,etc

Tell me one fps with a very deep story and one that's very awesome and I'll buy it right away. And I mean metroid great here. You must be able to write 3 books about it.

I don't understand these guys? why so much hate to the wii.

I mean I am not that wild about the conduit but he seems to not played the game and just wrote a preview based on what he saw and heard. But if he played it then it seems that he just used any excuse to attack it.

Besides many of the things he complaints, like destroying barrels, are in every FPS in any console? why this should be different? Doesn't make any sense.

Hell I agree too.
Talking about the same game of course... ie if Metroid Prime 3 was dual-analogue with shinier graphics, I'd take the Wii version. Even if shinier "graphics" included other things like "more realistic physics" and more enemies on screen at once.

It  might not make much of a difference for MP3, because it was designed around the Wii's limitations. But you can't be serious in saying that it applies to any shooter like shams said. What would HL2 be without its physics? Or what would L4D be with a fourth of its zombies?

And while I liked the Wii controls in metroid prime 3, they are not the end-all for every type of FPS. They are perfect for point and click shooting a-la lightgun game, but - for example - they are much worse at simulating inertia through a very progressive acceleration curve.

Please. I liked Metroid Prime a lot. MP3 was a letdown in atmosphere and pace. And thinking of writing a book about any of the games you mentioned is ridiculous.

That's why I said this gen, I liked metroid prime(2) a lot more as well, but metroid prime 3 is still a lot better in campaign then all the games I mentioned.

People write books about star wars, so I don't think writing a book about Samus or space pirates would be that ridiculous. I'm just saying gl writing a book about halo3. It will be a lot easier to write about something like metroid prime.

So by admitting that you liked MP more than MP3, aren't you emptying of any value what you said just a few posts ago?

After all, MP did not have Wii controls :)

I stand by that this game is more a first tech demo and less an actual full attempt at a game. Keep in mind they are building the engine and the game. That's a big load for a small company. So I expect that this game will be under par. HVS even mentioned that they have improved there engine since TC started. These improvements won't be seen in this game though.

The real feature for this game will be the multiplayer rather than the single player. Being the first fully featured Wii Online FPS.

You may actually be right. You know how the Unreal Engine keepsimproving? This Quantum engine is being constantly updated, with potential future use for the Wii console (besides The Conduit 2).

It could be a factor in the development of many more games.
