Forums - Sony - what´s you´re opinion about valkyrie Chronicles ?

there are only a minor bad things as far as the story is concerned.. sometimes its a little too ....frivolous for a war themed game *cough*beachscene*cough* or outright preposterous (your captain officialy welcoming a pig that has white wings, into the squad )

if you have been playing a few jrpgs there wont be much suprises as far as story and characters go.. and the lightheartedness might bother some people.. but noone  expects it to be  apocalypse now..

what bothered me how passive your main character keeps when his "sister" is being discriminated and bullied

the only real problem is that later in the game you basically can rush all missions just using scouts.because the game rewards speed over anything else.. which makes it not very rewarding to advance carefully

you noticed i only stated the "bad" things well the good things have all been stated enough.. now all you need to do is get the game.. and dont be fooled by the demo.. it tells you very little about how fun this game is

VC is a very good game, but not for everybody (I mean it won't excite most people at first glance, or even after a 2nd one). Story is great but its development is rather slow, and much of it (first and seconday character development) is left for side-events (nothing wrong with this but you must be aware of this). Overall is a very satisfying experience especially for those who like "teenager JPRGs" in general and like the strategic-action approach.

The game has not exactly the most "user-friendly" experience and by this I want to point out it takes trial and error (yes, failure and time spent to learn by failing) to get the hang of many gameplay perks the game won't let you know until you experience them firsthand. Saving frequently is recommended as it's inevitable you'll make costly mistakes that, even when very close to completing your mission, can turn the tide against you and send all your time and effort to hell. You can save before and after any action (on your player phase), but having to backtrack too much is painful specially because the loading is slow (around 25 seconds in battle) trying to locate the exact point where you saved. So, it's always better if you plan carefully.

Sometimes there are exasperating things you can't control that will just happen: ie. missing a shot against an enemy right in front of you (Lancers and the tanks love to do that) you must remember this is an RPG and although its 3rd person perspective makes it look like you're in total "control" you must know your "stats" are still the rule of the game (it doesn't make it less bearable anyway...grrr...specially if you fail to execute in a very important turn).

This is not game-braking or actually a problem of the game at all, but people must know this so they won't be turned off the first couple of times it happens. That's one of the reasons I say this game is not for everybody. It all comes with the territory I'd say. It's still a strategy game. Thank Sega they created this beautiful canvas and 3rd person action to help make it more engaging and exciting.

You should give it a try regardless of anything you read about it. You may discover a whole new genre if anything and a very refreshing experience.

The voice acting is horrid. A small qualm for the one of greatest games I've played.

you mean the english voice acting? well thats why its so nice of them to include the japanese voices aswell... although i rather liked dwight schulz as drill sergeant

isnt this on ds?

i have no ps3 but am curious

if it is on ds, is it any good?

Last year's game of the year turned out to be Silent Hill : Shattered Memories (online GOTY was COD 6).  This year's GOTY leader to me is Heavy Rain.

I love the game and recommend it to anyone with a PS3.

A minor nitpick is that indeed towards the end I pretty much just used my scouts or the tank. Only occasionally I would have to use a sniper or the shocktrooper. After a while, I even stopped using lancers altogether (demolition boost anyone ).

So yes, they could have balanced the classes a bit more (and thats only a "problem" towards the end).

But still its one of the greatest games I played for the past 5 years or so easily.

Try advanced Wars another solid game in the same vein.

It just gives the feeling that the developers really put their hearts into this game. Like they had a tight budget but they really wanted to make something awesome.

The last time i felt like this for a game was Crono cross for the ps1.

PSN = vic_haste

you all really got me excited, i will definitly buy the game problably next month
and i will let you know what i think about the game

but i have still one question

is there a game on the market wich you can compare Valkyrie Chronicles with? because I´m always thinking of Fire Emblem in a WO 2 theme and action gameplay mechanics
