@BladeOfGod: I get that you like trophies. However, refusing to buy a game because it doesn't have trophies makes me think you actually value them over much more important game aspects. They add replay value, but their omission is hardly a deal breaker for any game you're interested in, let alone one that's among the best on any current gen system.

Wrong!! I am not buying the game if has no ONLINE and no trophies. I dont mind buying COD4, DMC4, MGS4... I just said that RPGs with no trophies become boring to me after i complete them.

But what they lack in replay value, they make up in length.
How long did it take you to finish COD4 singleplayer? 6? 8 hours?
DMC4? 8? 10 hours? MGS4? 12? 14 hours?

Suikoden II took me 65 hours my first try.
Tales of the abyss 100 hours my first try.
Haven't beaten Valkyria yet so I can't really say how long it is.
Also, I gotta stop playing RPG's they take up too much time. >_>

'wow i really dont want to know if you are serious or if this is trolling

please explain to me why you would want to return a perfectly good game like this because it has no trophies? this is such a mystery what people see in this nonsense and noone ..noone i asked could explain it to me

i can see why some people are interested in trohpies but to value a game by wether or not it has them is just insanely idiotic.. no really it is meant to be a gimmik so why are they so important to you?`hel me solve this great mystery

oh and warhawk and counter strike are meant played online the singleplayer is just a tutorial so of course its what makes those games great

Geez dude relax.

''wow i really dont want to know if you are serious or if this is trolling''

Oh I AM serious. I returned Fallout 3 because it had no trophies like it suposed to ( and because of some other stuff as well )

''why you would want to return a perfectly good game like this because it has no trophies''

Because RPG's with no trophies and no online have no replay value.

''no really it is meant to be a gimmik so why are they so important to you?`''

Because they are cool and fun and every game should have them.

So? then buy it, play it and return it?  Then at least you'll be able to say you've played one of the best games of this generation so far. Besides, the game sort of has a built-in trophy system (with medals).

And just to prove you wrong about trophies: it doesn't make you a good gamer, it makes you a gamer that 1) has a lot of time 2) checks the trophy to make sure to know what the requirements are and then goes to fulfill them 3) for a few trophies indeed has a bit of skill. Don't claim to be reason three when most trophies are reason 1 and 2. They are a nice addition but nothing more.

Again, if that's what is holding you back from this title: Buy it, play it, return it. You will have had a good game, you will have supported a wonderful game (of which the maker is thinking about making a sequel) and someone else will be able to pick up your copy for cheap, giving another gamer the chance to experience this wonderful game.

1) I dont need lots of time to get some trophies. I only have 1 platinium trophy and that's in uncharted and i needed over 4 months to get that one, so i dont have THAT much free time. I usually collect them on weekends and  when i have no school.

2) Well, yeah, that's how you collect trophies

3) That depends. If those trophies are like those online trophies in KZ2 and Warhawk than NO!! But i DO collect those hard trophies in Bioshock like ''Brass Balls'' and ''Man chooses''

That's then a difference in opinion about trophies. I haven't seen a trophy that wasn't part of one of those three categories, with the last category being only a VERY, VERY, VERYYYYYY small amount of trophies around. If those were the majority, then I'd say you had a point about trophies.

And you ignored my suggestion to buy it, play it and then sell it. No trophies and / or no online doesn't justify not having played this jewel :)

Ok I'll rent it and see if i like it. If i like it i am gonna buy it

Because RPG's with no trophies and no online have no replay value.

VC took me about 45 hours being that I did a lot of skirmishes and played through everything pretty slowly. I was doing my best to savor the experience. There are actually a few skirmishes I never played as well!

Now I'm ready to go through the game again for the additional goodies a replay offers. I expect to get another 20-30 hours of enjoyment before I even touch the DLCs!

Anyway, to those that won't touch a great game because it doesn't have trophies-

Would you still be so passionate about trophies if no one else could see them? Be honest. :P

I've always thought a gamer is one who plays great games when he/she can. Gamers will try unique and interesting titles to experience the innovation they offer. They'll actively contribute to the success of such titles. In my opinion, a gamer won't discriminate against content they have not yet touched due to a socially based reward system not being included. A gamer appreciates art, game play, story, and of course....innovation among other things. They won't allow trophies or achievements to stop them!

I guess I need to get with the times though. The new age gamer seems to care more about icons displayed in their online profiles so that they might be reminded each day that they have the time and patience to achieve great things. They can't keep such memories in their heads, they need them displayed for all to see so that they might be known and respected. Of course this type of gamer appreciates innovation, art, story, game play... but only if trophies or achievements are rewarded for experiencing such things.

This is obviously just my jaded opinion, so take it with a grain of salt. In the future, I'm sure just about every title with be required to have trophies anyway. :)

Person 1: Does Valkyria Chronicles have trophies?
Person 2:  No.
Person 1: Forget it. I'm not buying it.
Person 2: Wait! It's amazing! Unique, charming, drop dead gorgeous... Hello?

I thought people played games for the enjoyment of just playing games ! Because i dont remember playing "Super Mario Brothers " for any Trophies/achievments.
