Forums - General - The European Union is the Greatest Economy in the World. Will USA catch up?

[SPAMMING = BAN!] Keep to the topic at hand.

Wiki: European Union

Anthem of Europe: "Ode to Joy" Symphony No. 9 (German original title: "Ode an die Freude")

The European Union has the Greatest Economy in the World. Will USA catch up?

I don't think they ever will.

The reason is that the United States has only 306 million people, while the European Union already has 509 million people ! The economic growth in Eastern Europe continuously adds to Europe's economic influence. As more and more eastern european countries join the EU, Europe will grow even more! Eventually the European Union might end up with 731 million people (total number of people in Europe). That's some solid numbers. 25 to 50 years from now, Europe will be able to field the largest most impressive military planet earth has ever seen. I don't think we want to do that though. We're not really that interested. No offense, but Europe will probably let America do the dirty work (we don't like to get our hands dirty). :/

Discuss.

Maybe if everyone stopped thinking they were greater and better then the rest and realised we're all human the world would be a better place.

Indeed. That is what the EU project is all about. Peace, Cooperation Stability and Freedom

EU Motto: "United in Diversity"

How could the US possibly catch up when over the past decade, or so, the EU has been having greater growth than the US, so the gap is widening.

When Turkey eventually gets around to entering the EU, we will have a huge economic boost as well.

But, personally, I think the EU needs to focus on a "one voice" approach and get something developing there. We're not united enough as an economy, military or even politically for us to have that "superpower" status.

I hear ya. But most countries don't want a unified Europe, they like to remain sovereign

This is a thread about Geopolitics. There are lots of us educated people here on VGchartz who are really knowledgable and enjoy Geopolitics. If you as a 16 year old enjoy saying that other people's anthems suck, then GTFO!

Don't troll the discussion by saying the National Anthem "Ode to Joy" sucks. And don't Spam the thread with national anthems.

Edit your post or I will report you and make sure you'll get banned.

Hmm I could look at it like this: you start a thread comparing Europe's and America's economy and then you post an anthem. Yep you're banned

LOL! Because Turkey is such an economic powerhouse?

No, but with a large population and tonnes of resources it can be.

It's predicted to equal Italy's economy by 2050.
