Forums - General - The Most Influential Album of All Time revealed! Please Enter!

I consider Sgt. Pepper's to be the most influential album ever (which doesn't mean it's the best, as for me the best album ever is Abbey Road). We could argue forever which is better, but I think calling Thriller more influential than Sgt. Pepper's is simply wrong. Sgt. Pepper'¡s changed EVERYTHING, hell, it even changed the way covers are designed, introduced attaching lyrics to albums, popularized concept albums, introduced new recording techniques, showed how an album could be made with such dissimilar genres of songs.

No, no album has ever been more influential than Sgt Peppers

Its a fantastic CD, but not the best or most influential ever.

Everyone has their own opinion, there is no best album ever.

London Calling is more influencial.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.
