No it doesn't. Games is referring to the competition between whomever is involved in the next generation of video games. At least that is my interpretation.

That's my interpretation too. But games have been afoot for a while now. For example, Intel and Sony evaluating the possibility of a Larrabbee-based GPU for the next Playstation is at least 4 months old.
My take is that this guy will work on the toolchain: devkits, compiler optimization for multicore architecture etc.
At Sun they probably have worked quite a lot on those for their Niagara-based machines. If IBM's aquisition really happens, once again MS and Sony will work with not-so-different ingredients, because I suppose that some of the same technology will trickle down the Cell line.
