Forums - Nintendo - Can't the wii engine handle the new Prince of Persia

The PoP developer created a graphics engine, along with assets for HD consoles and PC's, unfortunately this engine doesn't work on the wii since it was never programmed to, and at this point trying to downgrade the engine and assets would either bet to much work and not worth the investment, or simply shite is produced like Dead rising wii version.

I suppose you could always wait for a wii version to come out, perhaps when the sequal comes out, one never knows.

Prince of Persia was never a good series.

Sands of Time was a masterpiece.

The new PoP on Wii would be bad if Elika doesn't look as hot, because if she's not hot, that whole game is like... I'd just toss it out the window basically.

^that's very mature, man.

Excuse me, but the original PoP was a  great game that redifined adveture games.

And the sands of time was a great series!

If you've played it, you should understand where I'm coming from, that game is pretty average overall and I've played plenty of average games in the past so the least they can do is provide a hot chick to look at while I'm playing.

With some money, some talent and some time, everything is possible...

But if Nintendo has money, talent and time, plus the inner knowledge of the console's architecture, others are way too lazy, or way too insecure, to use the (supposedly too limited) hardware to its best...

But of course, they could do it easily on another famous SD console, weaker than the GC, itself weaker than Wii...

But it then took 2 or 3 years to take to best out of the (hard to program for) PS2, and this while treating it like the market leader from day one, with a lot of dedication and patience... all the best PS2 games were out between 2002 and 2006, and not in 2000 or 2001... people easily forget...

If some devs finally try their best on Wii, receive the money from the investors, take all the time needed, and show us their incredible talent, it will be so late that their games won't be ready before 2011 at best...

Bad management, you've said bad management? Yeah, "everybody" thought the PS360 were the sure shots, and the Wii the failure... no money for the Wii, no time for the Wii, no talent for the Wii... we saw the results, thanks... how can anybody be surprised the 1st party titles are so dominant in such a landscape?

I don't think there is a current Wii game as gorgeous as the latest Prince of Persia so I guess Nintendo can't either...( or they can but won't bother, your pick).

PS3-Xbox360 gap : 1.5 millions and going up in PS3 favor !

PS3-Wii gap : 20 millions and going down !

The whole game is cel-shaded anyways, if they lower everything to fit 480p and make a good engine for Wii, it's doable, just has to make a lot of custom shaders.

The one thing I don't think the Wii could handle is really not intricate to the gameplay at large, but it's very impressive and one hell of a thing to miss out on, namely the draw distance. Each area can be seen in it's entirety from anywhere else in the level. There is one area in particular where you get to stand high up above on a wooden ship near the front and look out over the vastness of the area you're in. It really is a freaking sight to behold. It appears very quickly in this trailer at 1:40

I played the Prince of Persia game that came out last year at a friend's house it wasn't that good.
