Forums - Gaming - GH and RB obsessed fans - the ultimate game

As Godot said, what you are asking for is currently impossible, the software does not exist, nor is particularly close to being made. Eventually this may, to some extent, be possible, but that is years away, and when it is available will cost hundreds or likely thousands of dollars for an individual to have access to it.

I realize the impossibility. My threat is definitely wishful thinking. But like I said it would be the ultimate game (and a successful one, would probably sell more copies than the current versions).

There's actually no guarantee it would sell anymore copies. The earlier example, Lips, hasn't sold even as much as Singstar and it has this added feature that you speak of where you can run songs off MP3 players.

But, if we need to talk realism, what if instead of the current DLC scheme itunes could sell songs that are playable on all music players and can be played in the games as well. The developers can charge royalties to have those codes in place. That seems more feasible.

That's a fine idea actually. However, putting iTunes to work for the game is unecessary. It should be the other way around. The Rock Band and Guitar Hero stores should allow all downloads to become MP3s you can then hook up to your iTunes/other MP3 program sorta like a a physical DVD coming with a digital copy. Obviously the cost would have to be slightly more to accomodate. Maybe 50 cents more per song.

WTF. You do know, that the reason GH/RB requires MASTER TRACKS is so the game actually distinguishes when you're NOT Playing. GO watch hacked versions of GHII With custom songs. 99% of the time, the Guitar Plays in the background. In order to properly filter out each track from a compressed media form like .mp3, you'd have to be a motherfucking genius with 100+ hours of pure work put in per song JUST TO GET THE AUDIO if you wanted to get it perfect.

You might as well get GuitarZero, or FretsOnFire, if you don't care about the above features.

Yeah I know.  Nobody said it would be easy.  But I'm sure some genius is working at it in his basement right now (along with making a lightsaber).

I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not.
