Forums - Gaming - Best elements of Mega-man classic

For each numerical game in the series (GB counts to), what are the best parts/aspects for that game? I for one enjoy the ballon and grapling hook items in four, just because they reward curious players. And the charge shot's not so bad either, it just hepls with aggressive bosses.

I heard that the charge shot downplayed the effectiveness of the weapons you get from bosses.

I just like the difficulty of the older games. Mega Man 2 & 3 are my favorites.

Yeah, it's a game that isn't afraid to abuse the player difficulty wise without being too hard that it turns the gamer off. It's the perfect balance.

The music.

That's true in later games, but in four it's still small so it has trouble hitting the agile enimes, with dive, toad, and dustman's weapons have more range. As so I think 3 is a little bit more easier than most of the others....

Anyway, this list highlights the best elements of each game for me:

RM1: simplicity and the satisfation of beating it without any of the aid found in later games.

RM2: Music

RM3: Actually forming a deeper plot of the series, the mobility of Rush jet, and breaking the "humanoid" mold for Robot-master with Spark and Hard-man.

RM4: Stated in OP.

RM5:.....beat?

RM6: Rush adaptors.

RM7: Shop, finally seeing our blue hero in 16-bit.

RM8: potentially evealing the origin of the Zero virus, rematches with Wood-man and Cut-man.

RM9: Splash-woman, phenominal weapons, advancing the plot( kinda).

I picked up the anniversary collection (for PS2) after beating Megaman 9 last year. $12, too! What a bargain!

I'm up to Megaman 3 (I'm not exactly speeding through...).

Ahh, 8-bit fun :)

The perfect difficulty starting with 3, enjoyable rock-paper-scissors style weapons, interesting platforming and excellent music (especially 2).

Potential fan-boss design for future game ( likely 4th SSM) http://protodudesrockmancorner.blogspot.com/
