Forums - Sales - Have Madworld's legs begun?

Pardon me for going on a rant, but this thread seemed like the place to do it. NJ5, I have always considered you a highly intelligent poster, and that's precisely why this thread disappoints me as much as it does. Let me make an analogy towards a runner since that's the basis of the term. If a runner started out slowly and after a couple minutes was keeping at a consistent pace, would you even call that close to "legs?" If GTA4 and Halo 3 were sprinters and Wii Fit was a marathon runner, than Madworld would be a middle schooler running laps in gym.

The main point of this is don't judge legs from three weeks of sales. You could say it alludes to the possibility of legs, but I could say that for a bunch of games. Hell, the game had a small dropoff this week in one region, but what if next week the sales plummeted and it only sold 2k in PAL? Would that be legs?

At the level of sales Madworld is it (which is fairly slow), you should probably wait more than a few weeks before even considering whether the games has legs or not. A small decrease when the game has sub-10k sales is not anything to get excited about, especially given how much marketing it was supposed to have.

I know that it's too early too call. I was surprised to see that there was no drop from week 2 to week 3 (as always happens as far as I've seen), so I created the thread. Maybe I could have titled it differently :P

I definitely agree that the sales don't look impressive yet (even if Sega says they're happy).

Thanks for the compliment btw :)

It was the same for Okami. Either the budgets are low or Sega/Capcom (for Madworld/Okami) had lower expectations than we would.

its at £19.99 at most of the stores i go to. Why is the PAL version lousy? just intrigued to know the difference NJ5

It lost full widescreen and the 60 Hz mode in the conversion process. Even crappy shovelware games get better conversions, but maybe Zoom Mode can fix the full-screen part in some TVs, by erasing the black bars.

In this price comparison site, the lowest price is currently £25. I think Amazon raised the price again.

It all depends on how the buzz generates post-release. It took nearly 2 months for COD:WaW on the Wii to pick up the pace, and now is selling over a mil units. Post-release buzz may make this title do well, if it comes.

oh and checked last time i played wii was end of July, so glad madworld bucked that trend lol

will be interesting to see whether or not people will call this game "legworld" in the future

It's a bit early to say, but I hope it does keep the sales up. I hope U.S sales numbers stop dropping.

I don't know, I think others numbers are undertracked.

Reason I say that is because in Australia the game was $69AU plus a free soundtrack of in game music if you preordered. This equates to about ($35-40US as we ususally pay around double for games here).

Madworld was 8th best selling game all platforms on launch week. It ven outsold Resident Evil 5 on 360

4th highest Wii game.

Now end of second week it is 6th best selling Wii game.
