IMO not better for kids than Lego, drawing books, family board games or a doll house. I however think it's much better than those weird modern action figures.

All conosles and PC's are toys. Some of them just happen to be able to be used as more then just toys.
Heck even a CAR or Home Theater System are just toys.

They just happen to be adult toys.
The Wii also just happens to be a toy that is fun for adults and kids at the same time.
