FF VII Remake = DS. Because Stone Cold said so...

Iam sure SE is secretly working on a remake but sure as hell no one especially the anyone at 1up have even a clue when the Release date is.
In any case, Square did say there will be a new game at TGS. It is not FFVII, but I am very curious to see what new game they have. It is enticing that this 1up article says that haven't completely abandoned the idea of doing an FFVII remake.

After seeing what Square thinks FF7, its world and characters should be like in their spin-offs, how can anyone actually be excited about what they plan to do to the original?

I hope they will not destroy the game by making a remake ...
