Is it even an independent nation, or is it more like an outpost of the US? Is Puerto Rico a member of the UN?

I am a proud citizen of The United States of America and a true believer in the freedom and ideals that America stands for.

I enjoy being American and take pride in a lot of the aspects that make this country great. I like that many Americans continue to hold on to their religious beliefs and that we were able to build a great economic power; however every economy must take its share of lumps. Not everything about America is bad, although when the Government or some number of citizens do something I disagree with....I dislike the actions but not the entire country.

I am proud to be an American!  How about you?

You make it sound like a bad thing.  Like I should be ashamed to be American, or some stigma attached to it, but I can come out and say how proud I am of myself.

Kind of reminds me of homosexuals who rightfully put aside the negative views some have of their life aside and proclaim their love of their sexuality. :)

IRT:

I'm glad to be born American, there are things that my country has done that I approve of, and things it has done that I do not approve of.  If America or, say, another country like France, did something, I would compare their actions with my own reasoning wihtout bias towards my own country.  I guess that means I lack patriotism and pride, but I prefer it that way.

I was born in the U.S. of A but I am not American.

I was born of Pakistani descent, but I am not a Pakistan.

Explanation of sig:

I am a Pakistani.....my name is Dan....how hard is that? (Don't ask about the 101...apparantely there are more of me out there....)

I'm not proud, I'm greatful. Greatful of all the freedom and options that I get from this nation.
Being proud means you did something. I am proud my ancestors came to this nation.

if you are born in the USA that would make you a Pakistiani American... so you are an American.
