Forums - Gaming - Konami announces Six Days In Fallujah (Iraq War game)

Called Six Days in Fallujah (via GamePolitics and the Los Angeles Times), the new title will be based on the conflict that claimed the lives of 38 soldiers and 1,200 insurgents. Atomic Games, which is known for its work with military combat simulation software, will be handling development, with videos, photos and diaries from the U.S. Marines who took part in the conflict making up the core of the narrative.

"For us, the challenge was how do you present the horrors of war in a game that is also entertaining, but also gives people insight into a historical situation in a way that only a video game can provide?" Atomic Games president Peter Tamte said. "Our goal is to give people that insight, of what it's like to be a Marine during that event, what it's like to be a civilian in the city and what it's like to be an insurgent."

I Sense backlash from the media on this game

if it's going to be too real it will suck

other than sports games and driving sims I think too much realism in a game can kill the fun, like GTA IV for example

Will probably fail like all of Konami's other attempts at shoehorning itself into popular western genres.

Tag - "No trolling on my watch!"

If its going to be real it will be an absolute slaughter for the Americans. Blackwater were accused of shooting innocent people. The Army were accused of shooting unarmed civilians. Nobody knew wtf was happening and inner city combat was THE WORST they had dealt with since the war started.

It will be interesting to see how the propaganda machines spins it, because there is a ton of evidence proving it was too excessive, random and they had no idea how to control the city. Bremner was a control freak who basically sent US and other people to the slaughter.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

Can you imagine the multiplaer games......Capture Osama anyone???

In IraI hope this game fails because americans are still iraq getting murdered and getting their limbs blown off. Not only that, this war has a 30% approval rating in the US and even less around the world. Only Sarah Palin thinks its a wonderful gift from God.
