Well, to be frank...the first episode was just average. I wish they had made the artwork closer to the game (it does have the trademark crayon conte style on the characters, but just on the characters. I watched the 720p version) , it would have given the anime a period-piece feeling (and more suitable to the war theme, imo) but it's not really a letdown since I was already expecting this from that animation studio. I really didn't like the imps went full force after a couple civilians and their house...it doesn't make any sense to me to start an invasion on certain town and the first thing they do is to go chasing a particular couple of civilians with most of their heavy artillery? I fear they will go too much the "shonen" way, but hopefully they can instill the serious themes the anime portrays.

I don't know if there was a manga before the game or if there's a manga that was concieved based on the game. I trust Michiko Yokote (who has worked on other great shonen anime as Naruto, Bleach, Kiba, Cowboy Bebop and Ranma to name just a few) so I won't think of the first episode as a weak start, yet. After all many anime series are unimpressive the first few episodes and eventually take off. I was glad to hear the music from the game :D and the voices.

Also, don't forget that Alicia has a rifle and is in uniform. Not exactly the civilian type.

REJOICE EUROPEANS !!! Sega Europe Ltd. has just annouced that the DLCs will be available on April 16 on the Euro store... all three of them...

alkyria Chroincles DLC Details Revealed

Press Release 8th April, 2009

LONDON (8th April, 2008) – SEGA Europe Ltd. today announced that the downloadable content for Valkyria Chronicles™ will be available on PSN for download for £3.19 or €3.99 each on 16th April.

Details on the new downloadable content:

• Hard EX Mode – fight your way through the entire Imperial army, where the enemies are more lethal and your main tank Edelweiss is unavailable. You’ll have to be more strategic in order to overcome your opponents.

• Edy’s Mission “Enter the Edy Detachment” – six members have been separated from Squad 7 and on their journey to reunite with their squad, they stumble upon a tiny village under attack by the Imperial Army. Play as Edy and command your outnumbered team to defend the small village from annihilation.

• Selvaria’s Mission “Behind Her Blue Flame”– Taking place right after the outbreak of Gallian battle lines, you play as Johann, a young and meek engineer assigned to Selvaria’s troop. See the action as it unfolds behind enemy lines and experience the war play out through the eyes of the enemy.

Valkyria Chronicles is set in a fictitious continent reminiscent of 1930s Europe. Divided in two and ruled by the Empire and the Federation, the Empire has set its sights on invading a small neutral country called Gallia, which is situated in the middle of the two great empires. The game follows a hero named Welkin and his fellow soldiers of Gallian civilian militia’s 7th Platoon who are fighting against the Empire. The Empire is intent on unifying the continent under its power, but Gallia discovers that the Empire possesses a secret weapon, known as the “Valkyria”- an ancient race with special powers thought to exist only in legends. With this new discovery, the fate of Gallia’s ability to win the war and a hope for a better future hangs in the balance.

The Valkyria Chronicles downloadable content will be available for the PLAYSTATION® 3 computer entertainment system on April 16th.

You know it didn't happen like that. They sent a few soldiers after them.b

Whenever they garrisoned in the house, they started to seige them with tanks.

^uh, they did send the tanks, what's your point? whatever man, it's just the thing I didn't like.

I'm just saying. If someone boards up in a large home, you have to send in some type of heavy weaponry.

While I understand your complaints. It seems logical to grab the tanks as they made their way to Bruhl.

Read my earlier post, Light tanks! minor raiding for the incoming army etc etc...

Essentially this is sound tactic and make sense from a strategic point of view; half of any battle is logistic and communication.
