No. They said the overworld was bland. Gamespot praised the storyline. They even nominated it for "Best Story" of the year. Here is the link

 I'm talking aboutt he youtube review specifically if you turn to the beggining of the reviewer states "the plot is pretty standard for this type of game" which basically means that the game's plot is not really that original.

At the very very beginning he said ToV had a fasinating storyline and a terrific cast of characters.
