Forums - Sony - Should I get a psp?

Hey Chief, welcome to the PSP family.

so many good games on the PSP, but since you have both PS3 and 350, and don't like the NDS games, try these ones, they're my favourites.

Resistance: Retribution (brand new, and if this is the shape of things to come, bring it on)
God of War III - first time i played this, i was stunned - had to complete it ASAP and play again
Wipeout games will keep you coming back again and again
Killzone Liberation - has the most annoying control mechanism, but once you get used to it, you can totally appreciate the quality of this game
Worms 2 - just because there's nothing better to flitter away long train/coach journey's. And everyone loves Worms (i have Worms 1, bought it the day before they announced 2... i was pissed)
Riff: Everyday Shooter - simple time wasting game

Hope you enjoy your handheld multi-media masterpiece.

Thanks man. Even though I don't own a ps3. :)

Why do you make it sound like there is something wrong with running homebrew?

I don't think that anyone is saying that homebrew itself is a negative - I'm sure it can be used for all kinds of fun, legitimate reasons.

But you pretty clearly use it in the interest of piracy, which would be the problem.

How do you use homebrew for piracy?

I'unno. I assumed it had something to do with this:

the psp homebrew scene is pretty awesome, and while the library of psp games might not be the strongest on it's own, when you add in the ps1, snes, genesis, and gameboy libraries you can't really do better with a handheld system.
Did I misinterpret that, and it's possible to pirate the games of those latter systems without custom firmware?

This.  I don't care if you using homebrew for legitimate reasons, it supports piracy.  If you post a link telling someone how to enable homebrew I will ban you without a second thought.

I don't know, I am not interested in retro games. PS1 games are another thing, I am not sure but I think you can run them from your memory card if you take an image of your cd:s. That is not piracy..

if you have an old psp (firmware 1.0 or 1.5) you dont need custom firmware to play any pirated games, however yes if most of the time homebrew is used to pirate games, and i can understand why some are against that. homebrew does have some other uses though, not all of it goes towards pirating.

Strictly speaking, that isn't true; the EULA for games you buy does not include you being legally allowed to copy images from those games, even as a backup. So, yes, technically anything like that is piracy.

Unless I have the wrong idea entirely.
