Forums - Gaming - Why would anyone but Wii owners care about The Conduit?

i think the hype over the Conduit is over the Wii controls for it, Wii owners are hopeful that The Conduit will take full advantage of the Wii controls and be one of the most fun shooters on the Wii

I'm hoping for more fun than any console FPS personally because I don't like dual analog for shooters, it might change how the next gen systems will work in general and it'd turn out better for gamers overall.

I think there's really only one reason why people interested in the Conduit... it's because it's the best looking Wii title that happens to be an exclusive.

Conduit isn't the first Wii title to make use (or exceptional use) of the pointer.

Personally, I'd prefer dual analog over the Wii remote when it comes down to shooters since my kinda play in the cramped area.

I may be in the minority, but what is the Conduit even about? From what I have picked up about it it is a FPS that looks really good on the Wii. I indirectly own a Wii and am not really that into this game at all.

dood, no, the conduit has a horrible art direction which makes it look like ass, the engine is fine but that game looks like... yeah, a donkey. it is not the best looking Wii game at all, it is, on a technical ground, but not how it looks. at least it looks kinda OK in motion though, I wanna punch the art director in the face.

Well it's not even out yet, so we don't know a lot about it besides it's about a conspiracy story based on secret goverment agency and space aliens.  It's assumed by many that it will be good, but as others have pointed out HVS hasn't really had a real strong title before, and so the developer might be over stating the quality.

If it helps, think of it as a combination of Killzone 2 and Metal Gear Solid 4, with a little Ratchet & Clank thrown in.  Then scale that back a little or you may be setting yourself up for disappointment.

Well, your description makes me think not of Duke Nukem, as someone wrote, nor of what you wrote, but of Half-Life! Nothing wrong about it, anyway, I liked very much both the Duke and Half-Life.

Yeah...  does better remind me of a cross between duke nukem and half-life too...  However, I was trying to go only by games in hist list of owned games, assuming he likes those games... Either way, it's hard to say until it's out and we can actually play it.

So this is one of those games that boasts nothing new and just a combination of other ones then? Unless I am mistaken there have been recent games that got docked because of that. I actually do own half life and all the ones after it. Don't get me wrong I like Half life, but if that is what The Conduit is like then I think it is a pass then. Maybe one of my roomates will get it for their Wii and then I can watch them play it and if I seem interested play it for free. This kind of seems like one of those games that people are hyping that could be setting themselves up for disappointment.

Ok you got me there. To tell you the truth I keep forgetting that the Wii actually has different controls. I have not played on a Wii for a really long time as I am not really a fan of the controls. But for a shooter on the Wii the controls are not new. There have been many other shooters out on the Wii that have used the new controls. So my point still stands.
