I like MS for Secure'n Tri-Ace games without trying, and retail'n there lowst grade model console for a decent price point.

But i HATE MS for making poor quality hardware that always seems to have issues.

This question is all too easy for me to answer!

1. Nintendo, Sega & SONY are the pioneers of the gaming industry. Without these greats, M$ wouldn't even be in the console war. In comes M$... tries to buy the 1st and 2nd, and, when cannot, tries their hardest to berry them all with their arrogance and $.

2. Buying almost everything has left them with NO identity! Come on, this is their 2nd console now, and still they don't have any feeling, style, face, sole, or mascot (other than the Master Chief).

3. Nintendo and SONY innovate, M$ buys, how can anyone respect this!

U had to ask this question???

Correction............. Nintendo and Sega are gaming pioneers, sony BOUGHT their way to the top and brought nothing new to the table.

faulty software(windows) and faulty hardware(360)
I've never really liked MS, hopefully someday they'll redeem themselves.

heh, you've obviously not had much experience with technology, seeing as how nearly every company EVER has had a product that is faulty.

And no Vista isn't faulty, it's no XP, but it's not broken or anything, you just don't like that it's now different (I wasn't a fan either, but I'm not going to hate on a company just for that).

The reason why MS is hated is because it brought competition to the gaming industry, it could even be argued that the Wii's current success can be somewhat linked to the 360, because now it's no longer "Playstation with all 3rd party games VS Nintendo with Nintendo games". Now people could choose between 2 consoles with nearly identical lineups and/or Nintendo's console. (Of course, Nintendo did a lot of the work themselves).

I think that's what Playstation fanboys are afraid of, that they'll never see another winning generation because Sony are the champions of copying other peoples ideas, so they'll continue to copy MS and Nintendo (and MS will do the same of course). So in a two horse race, by running with things that were brought in by someone else and perfecting them (Sony's strategy since the dawn of time), Sony was the leader (by being the follower). Now in a 3 horse race, Sony was forced to innovate and what we got was blu-ray and far from perfect motion sensing.

Next generation will show which company is truly leading the industry forward.

QTF!

Online,Motion sensor, joystick and even disc formats.

i hope you don't attribute online motion sensor joystick to sony ..... because that is dead wrong.... and disc format... yeah, what a step forward when you think about it Bdiscs are probably the most outrageous piece of shit in the storage world since mini discs.... oh but wait that was Sony too lol

Online copied from Xbox Live.

Motion Sensor copied from Wii.

Joystick...

Before N64 launch

After N64 Launch.

u know many other consoles had joystick right?

and xbox live its practically steam?, not only that sony can't copy xbox live since so many patents microsoft have, they practically have to do everything from scratch and thats why it's taking so long for the features to be implemented?

1.Joysticks and Joypads are 2 different things,Joysticks are more sensative.

2.This is a console discussion,of course PC has done it way before consoles, but then again its MS right? Windows?

I love Windows, the 360 is a great console, and Bill gates isn't like Scrooge McDuck... Everything sounds good to me....

I just think people don't like their strategy of buying the competition out. They tried to buy out both Ninty and Sega a while back, and since then has been buying up both exclusive games and companies to help themselves defeat Sony and Nintendo........................................... and Apple.

If you look at it though, the 360 wouldn't even be here if they hadn't done this...

Thats the sad part, Even SONY started alittle rough but when they got in the market, they started to establish their identity which MS still hasnt done, except being a cheap SONY ripoff with alittle Nintendo on the side

Wut?  Sony has been copying both Microsoft and Nintendo since they brought out the PS3.  The Xbox brand had Xbox Live long before Sony decided to rip off its features.  It brought a decidedly PC flavor to consoles which the PS3 because of it's lack of dominance or whatever is now a part of.  Seriously if anything it's Sony that lost its identity.

MS whole career In the gamming industry, HELL in general, is nothing but lookin at what everybody else is doing, taking bits and pieces, giving it a coat of new gloss and then slapping MS on it.

Fanboy glasses, let me show you them.

Why it doesn't bother you that Sony copypasted xbox live? Why it doesn't bother you that Sony copypasted Nintendo controls - first the analogs, then the motion sensing. Why it doesn't bother you that Sony attempted to copypasta Halo with their own flagship fps in order to appeal to western mainstream? Why it doesn't bother you that... etc?

Looking at what everybody else is doing, taking bits and pieces, giving it a coat of new gloss and then slapping Sony on it has been a fundamental part of Sony's console strategy for generations.

Heck, they not only do it on the videogame market. Sony's DSLRs are copypasta konica-minolta designs, but at least they had the decency to buy the company before firing up the photocopiers. I could also talk about Sony professional video equipment, copypasting Panasonic approach towards tapeless workflows.

It's not just about Sony, corporations are always looking at what everybody else is doing. They need to in order to survive. Truly cutting-edge trend-setting corporations are really rare and they usually are only for brief periods, eventually someone else comes up with something better and then it's time to imitate features/designs/etc.

Heck, the truth is (at least in the videogame market) you wouldn't even know who the true innovators were. As usual, the innovator is quickly forgotten and only the company doing the copypasting and bringing the innovation to the mainstream is remembered.

Unless you are really deep into a certain field/market to understand what's really going on whatever perception of innovation you have is just a byproduct of marketing.

Jesus, do you hear yourself?

This is what happens when you are attempting to copy innovations protected by patents. You need to find a way to replicate the results without infringing the patents. In fact, some Live features will never be present in Sony's network because there's no way to replicate them getting around the patents. That's the punishment for trailing behind someone else.

By the way, Xbox Live predates the launch of Steam (it means Xbox Live was launched before Steam) and many of the social community features of Steam weren't implemented until a few years back - that's years after Live.

But hey, whatever. Years of indoctrination and conditioning by Sony's marketing expertise can't be undone by humble logic and reasoning.

edit: ah, joysticks and analog sticks are not the same thing. Joysticks are digital inputs, analog sticks are... analog. That's why Mario runs faster the further the analog stick is from its center. In fact, today's dual analog standard is the result of corporation's copypasting each other.

I love microsoft. It is the best thing ever happened to gaming. MS all the way! I just wish they would make a handheld. :)

I don't dislike Microsoft.

I like Microsoft because they uprgaded online console gaming A LOT

People tend to dislike Microsoft for the same reasons other countries dislike the USA. Nobody wants to cheer for the guy that is always in first place. The fact of the matter is, though, that MS have given us great operating systems over the years (aside from Vista), and now 2 very solid consoles to enjoy. Not to mention that Bill gates is one of the most generous people on the planet. The guy donates more money per year than Oprah makes in a year and everyone praises Oprah as some fucking angelic savior while condemning MS?

People simply have no idea what the fuck is going on in the world.
