and xbox live its practically steam?, not only that sony can't copy xbox live since so many patents microsoft have, they practically have to do everything from scratch and thats why it's taking so long for the features to be implemented?

I've always like M$...they are a corporation...no different from any other, look at Apple...they do some draconian things, like dropping the price on the Iphone on customers and shafting people, but it was GREAT and COOL...had M$ did that, they would have been totally roasted!

I actually hate MS crappy monopoly OS on PC etc. Btw, windows is only link between me and MS. I have to use windows to play some newest games. For everything else I use linux.

I have nothing but love for microsoft. it's a great company and I am personally a fan of windows, even vista.

They have worked hard to remove the blights of their past... they've impressed me recently with their willingness to be more open

Oh... did you just compare Xbox Live to Steam? Xbox Live never really sucked balls like Steam did in the early days... how many people stopped playing Counter Strike because of Steam... it's like people forget shit like that steam was the biggest POS for a long time. It's only been recently that they got things right.

There are a couple of reasons why there is microsoft hate and they are fairly valid. A great deal of stemmed from early on the common practice was to develop things similar to what other developers had out there. Microsoft then would make their version incompatible causing the competitor to become obsolete. They even tried to do that with the programing langauge java (j++). never mind the fact the Java's biggest advantage is it being cross platform.

I can see why mac gamers would very pissed at Microsoft as well about Halo. At mac expo 99' Halo was the big simultaneous for both platforms that was going to help the emergence of Mac gaming. Except Microsoft bought and made it an XBox exclusive. Mac eventually got a port 2 years later.

There is also the recent issue about Xbox live blocking a lesbian.

I am ambivalent towards MS. Right now I am using XP so it can't be that bad. That being said I will probably be labeled a sony fanboi because I brought up valid concerns the go against most of this thread.

in the end it is a major corporation and they don't give a fuck about you or me or any of us. same goes for sony and obviously nintendo.

Since Microsoft lost just as much money as Sony going into this generation I cannot fault the results of their efforts.

I admire the fact that they can sell the Xbox 360 Arcade for $200 when the machine itself doesn't shirk any from holding its own as a performance powerhouse.

Their efforts at the beginning of the generation were exemplary and it broke Sony's stranglehold on the hardcore gamers just as the Wii took the rest.

Windows is ok.
Windows Mobile is a piece of shit.
Gates does a lot of charity stuff. Props.
Ballmer is an asshole.
