Regardless of what some people may think of Microsoft you have to give them credit for making computers accessible to the masses without tying it to expensive proprietary hardware.

Because hating Microsoft is cool and makes people on TEH INTERWEBZ THINK UR COOL TOO! And thats what matters, right? Fitting in with everyone else on teh interwebz! What actually really kind of annoys me is how people refer to a company names Emdollarsign when talking about microsoft...it really makes them look like asses. And to a degree idiots, such I can;t remember a company existing with that name :/

Wasn't this discussed in another thread (one I think you were in btw), and it was shown that the Microsoft logo does indeed have a dollar sign in it outside the Microsoft building? I believe this was the one:

Which was photoshopped, the guy who made it admitted it.

We all know which console you perfer MikeB.

  • Xbox 360
  • Windows Mobile
  • Zune
  • BlueTrack Mouse & Keyboard
  • Windows Vista SOON!!! Can't wait!

I am NOT a fan of Microsoft. Microsoft has done some very nasty things in the past, and has the desire to assimilate the world, Borg style. It goes it, and does what it attempts to do, to crush all competition. They have had a lot of issues in the past with anti-trust lawsuits.

Part of it came from them being a startup company in the past, and fighting like a startup had done for YEARS, even when huge. When you do that, you cause a bunch of damage to competitors.  I personally think it is close to absurd to LOVE Microsoft, personally.  Same with Sony for that matter.  As a bit of personally bias, I would say less so with Nintendo, because after Atari went down, they helped to get the videogame industry back on its feet.

faulty software(windows) and faulty hardware(360)
I've never really liked MS, hopefully someday they'll redeem themselves.

heh, you've obviously not had much experience with technology, seeing as how nearly every company EVER has had a product that is faulty.

And no Vista isn't faulty, it's no XP, but it's not broken or anything, you just don't like that it's now different (I wasn't a fan either, but I'm not going to hate on a company just for that).

The reason why MS is hated is because it brought competition to the gaming industry, it could even be argued that the Wii's current success can be somewhat linked to the 360, because now it's no longer "Playstation with all 3rd party games VS Nintendo with Nintendo games". Now people could choose between 2 consoles with nearly identical lineups and/or Nintendo's console. (Of course, Nintendo did a lot of the work themselves).

I think that's what Playstation fanboys are afraid of, that they'll never see another winning generation because Sony are the champions of copying other peoples ideas, so they'll continue to copy MS and Nintendo (and MS will do the same of course). So in a two horse race, by running with things that were brought in by someone else and perfecting them (Sony's strategy since the dawn of time), Sony was the leader (by being the follower). Now in a 3 horse race, Sony was forced to innovate and what we got was blu-ray and far from perfect motion sensing.

Next generation will show which company is truly leading the industry forward.

QTF!

Online,Motion sensor, joystick and even disc formats.
