If you have it what do you like about it?
Does it have to go online?

Kewl thanks.
It's a lot of fun if you enjoy RPG's with fast-paced combat and teamplay (local multiplayer with friends.) Character creation is also probably more customizable than almost any other game on the PSP.
Officially it can't go online yet, but there's rumblings of a PS3-PSP combo in Japan that lets you turn Ad-hoc into online. There may be other ways to currently take ad-hoc and tune it online, but I can't speak any more to those...
Yeah its pretty good. I've played through it twice.. its designed for those who like level grinding and gear grinding in their RPGs as there is alot of that to be done if you want to get powerful and have crazy damage weapons.
It supports local multiplayer as mentioned above and to go online is simple. Go to the Japanese PSN store and download Ad Hoc Party Beta. Its pretty small i think 20-40mb and install it into the PS3. Then on the PSP set network mode to Ad-Hoc and channel at auto. Load up the game and go to multi mode.
Load up Ad-hoc party on the PS3. Go to Server J room 50 (as thats where all the english players are) and look people to play Phantasy Star or any other PSP game like Monster hunter. Decide who is hosting then select join or host game on the PSP and people in Ad-hoc party can join. Pretty simple.
lol its kinda funny the first console game that went online cannot get online now and days.
but i heard that it was pretty good
Well, PS:P is more like Phantasy Star Universe than it is Phantasy Star Online (the first online console RPG back on Dreamcast), but there are some things in PS:P that make it feel like the original PSO.
The true sequel to PSO will be coming out later this year on the DS (Phantasy Star Zero), but that's another topic entirely. :)

Agreed. they did well with this one.
And @OP yes, i recently got it and its really good, its far better then the PS2, PC, X360's versions.
Mainly because this one has a story that decent for once, the gameplays been tweaked, graphics look very close if not nearly the same as console versions.
And gameplay is still fun, plain and simple.
So far i'd give it an 8.5 outta 10. real good psp game.
