Forums - General - BREAKING NEWS! North Korea Launch Rocket!!

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/asia-pacific/7982874.stm

North Korea appears to have launched a rocket, reports from Japan and South Korea say.

It came a day after Pyongyang said that its preparations for the launch of a communications satellite were complete.

North Korea says it is pursuing peaceful space development, but its neighbours suspect the launch is a cover for a long-range missile test.

The US, Japan and South Korea have urged it repeatedly not to go ahead and warned of consequences if it does.

North Korea had said that the launch would happen between 4-8 April, during windows from 0200 to 0700 GMT.

"A short time ago a flying object appeared to have been launched from North Korea," the Japanese government statement said.

The rocket appeared to have passed over Japan, the government said.

South Korean officials also confirmed that a rocket had been launched.

I would have shot it down. This gives the US a portrayal of weakness in re 2 foreign policy with aggressors. We should have let MacAuthur finish the job.

That's not good.....

I am not condoning this in anyway, but I am curious to see how many missles we have fired since the beginning of the year in comparison.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

SOVIET POWER SUPREME!!!

Is this a serious opinion?
It borders on satire, to be quite serious

meh , so what?

It's just a missile. We shoot plenty of them.

I'm Korean, born and raised, and I agree with halogamer. I thank the Americans for the lives lost in korea - McAuthur had the right idea though. it would be so good if N and S Korea was united.
Too many N. Koreans (my dad's side) have suffered. I have my grandfather and numbers of relatives I've never met. North Korea is suppose to be a beautiful place - too bad I'll never get to see it.
btw, any news on the Korean-American journalists?

OT:  Sateliite my ass - this rocket flew over Japan - I'm sure they were aiming at Alaska or something.
