1.)  Yeah, I mean at least half of their consoles burn up inside after you've owned them for a couple of years.  Wait, were we talking about Sony?  I thought we were talking about Microsoft. They only sold something like 6 million Rev 1 Xbox 360s, I would say Jasper/Falcon would be the most prevalent SKUs at this point by far.

2.)  Last time I checked PS3 was selling at 20,000 a week in Japan, and Final Fantasy XIII, Versus, GT5, Team ICO Project haven't been released yet while the 360 was selling worse than the PS2 and less than 5,000 a week, and games from Square Enix and Namco on 360 were getting smashed in sales by games by Level 5 on the PS3.

Wait a month and the PS3 will be down below 10k per week, as it happens every year.

3.)  But a diversity that a lot of people in Japan do care about.  Heck, I haven't seen one game in Japan for 360 even sell as well as exclusive action adventure games on the PS3 there like Kenshan! and Yakuza 3.  I'd rather have both of those in the US than Gears 2 or Halo 3.

Japan is such a small market... anyway since the PS3 has 3* the userbase it follows that it would have higher selling games. If we did the same thing in the U.S it would follow the same pattern.

4.  Has Uncharted been bundled?  It was a new IP that sold 2.32 million.  Which is quite a bit more than Madworld on the Wii for example.  And, I'm sure its sequel will do even better.

Yep its been bundled, pretty much every top flight PS3 exclusive has been officially bundled including this game.

 5.  Ever had a sociology course in school and heard the dictum, "You can judge what is going to happen in the future from what has happened in the past?"

But I would expect the professor would assume you would seek to understand why first.

2.  Okay, I'll bet you $500.00 VGCharts dollars it won't go below 10,000 in the next EDIT:  eight weeks.

5.  "It is not ours to reason why; it is ours to do or die."  ;)

Heavens to Murgatoids.

Points:

1.) I wouldn't say they were smarter if they were they wouldn't have had the rrod thing.

Sony is the batshit dumbass company this gen, but we won't go there.

2.) Yeah, even if the PS3 was selling so badly that it was being pulled from American store shelves it will be the reverse when PS3 hits 6 to 7 million sold in Japan during the next fifteen months. So what does that mean? And, we would start to miss out on all those jrpg exclusives that will be heading the PS3's way once it establishes that large of an install base in Japan while the 360 will still be under 1.5 million. I would miss them. I like jrpgs more than shooters.

Japan is a fairly insignificant market. Selling at best 5k a week there doesn't mean much. Furthermore I hope you like the Wii/DS, because they will be getting the majority of them.

3.)When more Japanese games start to come to the PS3 as a result of what I outline in 2, you will see more diversity in third party games for the 360 and PS3.

A diversity only a very small niche in the west care about, way to dodge the point.

4. ) Actually as far as exclusives go on 360 if game isn't called Halo or Gears or Fable on 360 it tends to have far fewer sales than most of the exclusives on PS3.

I could say that no exclusive which hasn't been bundled has cracked 3M on the PS3, really you're still so frightened of Rol that you resort to sillyness.

5.)releasing a year earlier typically means that you'll be the first to release your next console while the other system will probably be out longer. Genesis, SNES.  Dreamcast, PS2.

Finally you address the OP properly! Err No, you have to prove why rather than just stating because X happened after Y, Y causes X to happen.

This just leads me to believe you're going to keep changing the subject til you see what you WANT to see.

Yes, that's some good piece of data, at first glance I think it includes all first party games that sold at least one million units. The 360 clearly leads here, but that's also due its one year headstart and the PS3 still missing Gran Turismo 5. Those things factored in, I think it's fair to say that both first parties are about equal in terms of sales.

I would agree with you if you factor in the PSP, but besides that I think the 360 and PS3 are mature enough down their lifespan to make the one-year headstart obsolete.

For example, Gears sold massively even when there were only ~5m 360s in the world. The PS3 has way more than enough userbase to churn out a mainstream game. I agree with you it will be GT5 or God of War 3 that will finally do it, but how long did it take for them to come out, and how much 'selling potential' is the overall franchise for the future as from now? I think MS will put out quality Gears and Halo games on a much faster pace as proven already with ODST and Gears 2 coming out 2 years after the first game. And Gears and Halo are relatively 'younger'.

you re kidding, right?

PLAYSTATION®3

they're good points, but none of them have anything to do with the 360's shelflife

Rolstopable the claims you make in this thread are truly outrageous, truly, truly, truly outrageous!

Microsoft said the Xbox 360 would be on the shelf "For as long as the PS3 + 1 day" Since the Xbox 360 has a year head start that means the Xbox 360 will have 1 year + 1 day lifespan advantage over the PS3.
