Oh yeah ITER will be ready in 2018 (well you can add an extra 2 years). So nuclear fusion (if it'll ever work) will have replaced fossil fuels in what year? 2050 at best? And will it be available for all developing countries?

It's our best chance. Yeah, 2050 looks about right. More funding and interest would reduce that of course.

"Availible for developing countries"? The technology will drop in price rapidly as soon as it is perfected, and they last for a long time with much cheaper fuel than current fossil fuel ones.

lol, your predicting technology 50 years out? When has anyone ever been right? Look at predictions of where we would be today, from 50 years ago.

50 years? That would have been right in 2000. It's 2009 now. Maybe we should begin to say 2050 is 40 years from now :p

I don't doubt that he's investing in efforts to encourage the sort of behavior he believes will benefit the environment. Since he's been in on the ground floor of some of that stuff, it's not surprising that he has interests there. What I question is the amounts of money you propose he stands to make. Where exactly is he going to get DOZENS OF BILLIONS OF DOLLARS in personal profit? That is what I want you to substantiate and you have not.
He also could stand to make a fortune off of Carbon Trading itself. He is a major stake holder in a company that trades Carbon Credits, and also determines how many you would need to buy. (nice combo racket to be in).

If the federal government made every company who exported gas (that's just about every company), pay his company (or one of a dozen like his), to tell them how many carbon credits they needed to buy, and then made them buy the credits from Gore's company, he could be the next Bill Gates.

That's where it all falls apart.  Why are you assuming Gore would attempt, let alone succeed, to establish a government imposed monopoly?  It's not like it's Halliburton or anything ZING!

Also, please explain how it is that "just about every company exports gas".

My advice to fanboys: Brag about stuff that's true, not about stuff that's false. Predict stuff that's likely, not stuff that's unlikely. You will be happier, and we will be happier.

Oh, if we're going to appeal to authority, why is it that not a single scientific organization of national or international standing is known to agree with them?

Even if you don't agree with global warming you MUST agree we need to find cleaner renewable energy right?

Yes, but we don't need government forcing the issue. When we need to create it, we will.

what we need is to get companies to come up with ideas to solve this problem. If a company doenst keep up then people wont buy their products. A little capitalist competition should help out.
