^Instead of being cryptic, give us some title names.

Unless you're referring to ODST, then MW2 will definitely outsell that.

Actually I was refering to that, and I do agree MW2 will outsell it, however (mistake me if I'm wrong) but over a million different people play Halo 3 in a weekend. Microsoft will advertise ODST like mad you can be assured of that, would it be foolish to think it can do 3 million 1st week?

I think MW2 will outsellf ODST in the long run, combined its a lock, but 360 versions I think it will be close.

No idea when GT is out but its not unlikely it will hit this christmas.

No, it's not foolish, is it foolish to suggest that the 360 version of MW2 might do the the same? It's above my prediction by 1/3, but if you look at the article about Activision wanting this game to be one of the biggest selling games of all time, I'm pretty sure they'll be marketing the fuck out of this.

Do you have any statistics on how many people play CoD4/WaW over a weekend? I'd imagine those would be very high, also.

That doesn't mean anything though, I'm sure throughout 2008 COD4 had as many players online as Halo 3, yet WaW on the 360 only sold 300k more on its first week than COD4 MW .

With an active base of at least 1 million Halo 3 players (vast majority most likely to want the expansion pack)

Also ODST should be priced much cheaper than MW2.

WaW was crippled by the fact it was WWII, had it of been a MW game, it would have sold a lot better on its opening week.

Now, I never played the campaign of H3 for more than 5 minutes, but I'm under the impression that its campaign is fairly week, of those 1 million playing, how many would be interested in an expansion in the campaign?

Thats as may be but it still sold more than MW1 so consumers can't see it as a bad game.

I thought Halo 3 campaign was pretty week too, I guess it all depends on the nutty Halo fans and how good ODST looks. and of course the advertising.

It could go either way but I think FW Halo ODST > MW2, LT MW2 > ODST

I thinkit will less than 10 million because is not named call of duty, you know many people who bought COD 4 was because they knew the series before. But well maybe im wrong, i hope i am.

Seems reasonable if we're talking 360 only. Also, I'd say that ODST will only just scrape home first week sales and MW having a massive lead by the end of it.

Actually, due to the size of these titles, the positioning of their release dates could make a big difference. We know that MW2 is coming out on 10th November, if ODST comes out the same week, it will be cannibalised by MW2 as people would rather have a new game to play than an expansion.

However, if ODST releases a couple of weeks later, it could play into its own hands as parents on the Xmas sweep will remember picking up a Halo title a few years back and pick this up aswell.

it will have better first week sales than COD4 or COD WAW on both X360/PS3

but LTD will be less than COD4 for both X360/PS3

This has nothing to do with the topic, but Halo 3: ODST will not come close to selling as well as Modern Warfare 2, sorry. Don't know how you can believe that. Modern Warfare 2, the sequel to a blockbuster, is the military game of the year. Many people look forward to this game.

Halo 3: ODST

First-week sales  Lifetime sales
865,000 3,670,000

I don't think an expansion to a nearly forgotten game released almost 2 years ago can contend against a super anticipated military shooter. Sorry.

Those are my predictions.

Please start putting forward some good points/facts.

I think we could see first week sales on 360 of around 2 million, and the PS3 version just shy of 1 million.

At the end of it all, the PS3 version will be at around 5 million, the 360 10-11 million.

As for the PC, its launch probably be lower (around 300-500k), but it'll settle around similar numbers to the PS3

So, we're looking at ~3.25m first week, ~20m lifetime.

Seeing as we won't have any Halo/Gran Turismo this year (well, this side of the pacific), this will probably be the big Christmas game.

I wouldn't be so sure

Why not? By January, 2009, this game may sell up to 5,500,000 copies. Do you think that Gran Turismo 5 will have a better holiday or something?

PC 800k?! If anything the PC version might outsell all the console versions combined.

Curious, what did past PC versions sell, seen as this site doesn't track them I have no idea.

PC version sold roughly 2 million

In June of 2008 Activision annouced that CoD MW sold 10 million across all platform so going by VG Chartz numbers durring June of 2008 MW sold 1.3 million on the PC, since the X360 sold 5.7 million and PS3 sold 3.0 million.

So now the sales are Xbox 360 7.2 million, PS3 4.1 million and so my guess is the PC version is around 2 million

OT: My prediction for MW2 is:

Xbox 360: 6 million

PS3: 3.5 million

PC: 1.75 million

Total: 11.25 million LTD

Wrong. Whenever Activision released COD4 figures, they would only mention from 4 or 5 countries, never worldwide, and the countries mentioned were mostly console-centric(US, UK, etc..), leaving out dozens of PC-centric markets such as the eastern european countries, scandinavian countries, portugal, austria, switzerland, etc...

Second, digital distribution is never tracked, taking out a chunk of the sales. And third, like most PC games, the PC version of COD4 is still selling well, currently in the top10 of Steam best sellers.

I expect the COD4 PC version to reach 10 millions in it's lifetime.

800k or more copies might appear on peoples PC's but I doubt it's going to sell that many.

Do you have any proof for that number Shio ........
