live doesnt have what feature?

No, it doesn't.  Unless you have one of those weird chat pads for the 360 controller, this would be unbearable.  The PS3 at least has keyboard support.  But there really is no need for this to be cross game.

...So does the Xbox 360. Did you not know?

I love the text chat room :) I think it's a handy feature. I still want the voice chatroom, but text is great :D

the text chatroom isn't very obtrusive, all the messages that people send come up in the top right corner so you can see wats going on while playing the game as the same time.

I love it. I just leave the chat I'm on open so as soon as press the PS button I just press X and start typing. You can also have multiple chatrooms, and rejoin old chat rooms that you've left. It should be noted that you can even rejoin after shutting off and starting up your system. I setup a chat yesterday that I have like 4 friends that can just jump in and talk anytime.

I'm going to setup another one for about 8 friends.

4 ≈ One

How can you complain its FREE!

then in multiplayer you can reply... and die.

This is no different than typing messages in any other game so I fail to see the big deal here.

wtf are you talking about?

a text chat service on a website 'v' a cross game text chat service on a games console

you give it a rest.

tell me how cross game text chat works well than? particularly for 15 people and particularly if they are playing online miltiplayer and therefore cant pause the action? cross game text chat is useless.

Oh come on, it works fine. For example last night I organised a party in a chatroom, whilst playing Kz2. If you were sensible enough you would realise that to text back to your friends all you need to do Is wait until you die, or until the game is over. Its not intended to be used while you are actually in live play, its just a very very fast messaging system.

This service is only useless for either people who want it to be useless, or un-sociable people. Maybe if you had more friends on PSN, or weren't so biased (which you've already admitted) you would enjoy the service more.

^Do I?

No, I did not know that.  I thought they just had that little chat pad that plugs into the controller.

the difference is if you had cross game voice chat you could speak! thereby skillfully avoiding death by texting.

Ah but you see, I don't give a crap. Unless I'm not interested in being in the chat room in the first place, I'd rather try and manage typing a message when I die or if there's a message I want to respond to. If there's a point to being in the chat room, I'm going to use an opportunity to type out a message.

But since I also play PC games without a mic, it works here too. Just that you can recover faster since one hand is on the keyboard anyway.

People get so worked up it's funny.
