Once again, a hearty LOL at the posters suggesting long and complex games and games such as GTA, MGS or GoW. Not everyone enjoys ultra-violent, and those are not immediately accessable. Plus at least one of the games I listed is much more fun to watch than to play....
1. Wii Sports (something athletic... to dispel a myth)
2. Tetris (something cerebral... to dispel a myth)
3. Mario Kart Wii (Uses an actual wheel, easy to pick up)
4. Ms. Pac-Man (the best of the series)
5. Portal (actually more complex than #6 or 7, but it ties up the positive aspects of gaming well so its in the first batch)
Now, after that (and this person was hooked a bit more) then I would get into the more complex so....
6. Frogger (arcade version)
7. Geometry Wars (to introduce more complex controls needed for later games)
8. A music game (based on what genre they liked - Rock Band or EBA will do)
9. Super Mario Bros 3
10. Zelda AlttP

1. Wii Sports
2. Guitar Hero: World Tour
3. Mario Kart Wii
4. The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker
5. Super Mario Galaxy
| Johann said: @Rubang: I believe you're almost absolutely right on the money with your list. Except for SimCity. I can almost see someone getting into Portal, but SimCity requires too much commitment. And also, you're so right about the RPG thing. People who are saying Zelda are absolutely insane as well. Have you never met a non-gamer? Accessibility is key here, people. |
Yeah I was kinda iffy on SimCity, but I'm not sure what else to pick for that part. Between Katamari and Portal I wanted to slow things down with a sim-type game. What would you recommend? Maybe I could use Spore instead.

Actually, one of the AVGN's most recent reviews reminded me of a game that's easy enough to pick up: Tempest 2000.
I'll grant you it's not very deep, and you do destroy stuff in it, but it is very addicting and very easy to pick up.
Quem disse que a boca é tua?
Qual é, Dadinho...?
Dadinho é o caralho! Meu nome agora é Zé Pequeno!
World of Goo
Puzzle Quest
Wii Sports
New Super Mario Bros.
Grand Theft Auto VC
Considering that their is no context of who this person is. I would feel more comfortable to show a variety of styles that are excellent games and broad in styles.
Squilliam: On Vgcharts its a commonly accepted practice to twist the bounds of plausibility in order to support your argument or agenda so I think its pretty cool that this gives me the precedent to say whatever I damn well please.
Super Mario Galaxy
Halo
Resident Evil 4
Madworld
Little Big Planet
-Maybe Okami
My Games of 2011:
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Super Mario 3D Land
Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception
I would only need to show them one game to get them hooked....Halo
