Forums - Microsoft - Top 5 Most Beautiful Xbox 360 Games

Well I made a list, I;m a little bored at the moment. For your viewing pleasure(and to keep you from burning out your eyes), I'm relinquishing my blue for this article....enjoy. And don't forget to say your opinion of what is the most beautiful Xbox 360 game out there. And for the English impaired, I will explain that "beautiful" does not refer to most detailed, or most technical, or most bloody. It means exactly what it says; most beautiful. And beauty is, of course, in the eye of the beholder. Feel free to disagree with what I have listed, I more then likely have different standards then you on the topic of "beauty".

5. Bioshock

Bloody, gut ridden, and full of bulletholes, the fact that Rapture still is able to make this list is nothing short of amazing. I'm not simply going for most detailed, but most thrilling and fascinating to look at, and Bioshock scores winning points on all graphical levels. Stunning special effects and detailed, semi-open world environments make Bioshock a good looking game. What really tops the hat, is the art direction. That, coupled with its still-unsurpassed water effects of course. Truly inspiring, the Art-Deco theme really makes you think back to the time when that forgotten art was really perfected. What is art nowadays, anyway?

4. Mass Effect

Saying BioWare was ahead of the game with the level of sheer detail they put into Mass Effect is an understatement; they were ahead of the UNIVERSE(pun intended). Seriously though, Mass Effect showed us how deep and detailed a sci-fi adventure could be on a system, and the fascinating and utterly Star-Trek inspired art style pays homage to the other innovations the game brought. Barring of course, the mediocre gunplay.

3. Prince of Persia

The Prince had a pretty big change this time around. Foregoing its generally-becoming-more-realistic graphical style, the series took on the graphics of water-color, a dynamic and bright style that makes this game as much a treat to look at as it is to play. Its special effects dont neccesarily match up with its amazing and detailed backgrounds and character models, but heck, thated be a tough barrier to cross for it anyway.

2. Tales of Vesperia

Ah, Vesperia. So soft, so soothing, the relaxation and melodic tones with its candy-colored graphics only broken by Karol's shrill, girly voice. A game that I've heard to be considered "art" in graphical style(often put alongside Okami and SotC, for whatever reason) what Vesperia lacks in detail, it makes up in sheer simplicity. And the greatest part of the entire thing is just how seemless it is; the brilliant and shining color pallete blends perfectly with the changing landscape and brilliantly shining effect. In motion, its like watching a painting go by, crisp and cell shaded....but its not the most detailed thing out there, of course, which is the reason why the title of Most Beautiful Game on the Xbox 360 goes to...

1. Fable II

Fable II and Vesperia battled it out for top spot, but Fable II walks away as the most beautiful Xbox 360 game ever made. Fable II's world is dynamic; ever changing, and yet, day or night and rain or shine its simplystunning to look at. What makes this even more of an achievement is that it is fully open world, and each scene and set has been crafted so well. From the bright, colorful views of the lake to the snowy, wonderlands and the vast city scapes, Fable II is one of those games that makes you wish you lived in that world. Not with its people, of course, but with its soft, transcendental environments that, coupled with the often soft and melodous music, makes you really feel relaxed, despite being in the middle of a massive frenzy and lopping off bandit's heads. And of course, some screenshots of the victor, but to be absolutely honest, its particularly how the world moves around you that creates such splender in the game. If there is a single game on this earth that screenshots could never hope to do justice to, its Fable 2.

GOTY Contestants this year: Dead Space 2, Dark Souls, Tales of Graces f. Everything else can suck it.

Yeeeeeah Vesperia does not belong on that list.

I'd trim it, maybe stick on some Gears. And by "maybe" I mean "definitely".

no Gears, Star Ocean?

Gears? Bloody, messy, devestated land gears?

What part of "beatiful" aren't you understanding?

I'm sorry, is number five on your list set in Rapture or not? I kind of forget.

Nice hi res pics but they don't show the whole picture. Fable doesn't look nearly as good as the screen shot suggests. Gears definately needs to go on there.

Yeah, I read that part.

It doesn't manage to exclude Gears from being on this list.

The last picture (the one with snow), isn't that FMV?

Correct me if I'm wrong.

I simply don't see Gears as a beautiful game in any manner of the word. Detailed, stunningly detailed in fact, but beautiful or inspired is one thing it isn't.
