Forums - Gaming - How tough would it be to swap this controllers analog sticks into the DS3?

do you have the stick from the alienware game pad off take a pic of the bottom of it the stock ds3 stick have a horizontal shape slash were it meets the metal of the controller i think that will need to be the same for it to work here are the pics i took back in the day showing how i modded the triggers some will help u ditermine how every thing goes back

the tool i use to get the screws out

the lock that must be pressed in in order to take the ds3 apart

take off the little piece to access the rod note the new ds3 are a one piece design and dont have this feature

wat the piece looks like note the newer models dont use this i would check the box of a new ds3 in a store make sure it doesnt use this the new ones are a 1 piece desgin there are many other improvments to it as well i currently have the newer design ds3 these pics are of a older ds3 i had

usng the tool to push the rod out be carefull the spring might jump out at u note the new ds3 uses a diffrent rod its a 1 piece desgin no metal rod its all part of the trigger

shows wat it should look like under therei actually put 2 springs one on each side so it feels a bit firmer than stock i hope sony will add to the newer models but i doubt it

another angle

another angle

that how u should set it up for reinstall grab it by the rod on each side so the rod wont fall out of the trigger then simply push it back into place

thats were u push the rod into it just snaps into the grooves

the spring its reall easy to loose it so be carefull

the trigger b4 mod

the trigger after mod notice its shaved down i used a razor u have to cut it down b/c the rubber band will go there and u want the size of it to remain the same or else ur trigger will be super responsive

the rubber band crazy glued on

another angle

wat it should look like wen done

my triggers feel nice and quite and stiffer after this mod

How did you get the spring back in?

As for the Alienware analog stick, I won't be able to check until after work.

its hard to explain but look at pics 7-9 u hold the trigger by the rod with the spring angled a certain way and there is a section on the controller were the spring sits on you have to angle the trigger with the spring to meet up there then u just snap the trigger into the grooves it takes a couple of trys but wen u learn how it works its can be done on the 1st try

u should of never thrown out ur 6 axis thats wat u should use to practice thats wat i used and perfected my way of taking these things apart wen you take the back cover off the ds3 dont touch anything take a look around to see how everything works b4 messing with it u'll have a better idea how to put it back

I will be watching plenty of videos and reading these steps here before I commence with the "operation".

If it is a success I know I will be one happy S.O.B.

At least I only need to open the Alienware pad first. If the slits match up I will also be happy. If not, then... well... I have no clue.
