I never played a DQ before, so this will get me a bit familiar with the gameplay style in preperation for DQIX and DQX.

Bough Chrono Trigger and Dragon Quest IV both for 30 pounds should be a blast. Ive played about 3 hours of CT and its amazing.

FFIV. DQ IV/V and Chrono Trigger are exceptional as well.

Pokemon Platinum is my personal GoTY 09. Though, there are several others I like.

however, if you are looking for something original to the ds, you might want to check you suikoden tiekreis. it just came out an I have to say it is the most enjoyable rpg I have played that was specifically designed for the ds. It even has voice acting, which is pretty rare for a ds game. Not saying the voice acting is good though, but wouldn't say it is bad either. i'd say it's a Little bit better than your normal japanese attempt at english voice acting. :)

Ill definately pick Suikoden, DQ V FF Revenant Wings, FF III in near future.

CT is sick, and i think im going to play a lot over this week (while doing my dissertation proposal).

About Pokemon i also might give platinium a go (it releases in PAL round May) so i might get in the summer, i had Red and Yellow on my Gameboy back in the day, but havent played a Pokemon game since.

FFIII is a very different experience from FFIV. You might not like FFIII, but don't let that turn you off to its successor - FFIV is much better by nearly all accounts.
