Halo's awful. The handful of people I knew who were Halo fans almost entirely deserted it for COD4. The brand still has power, but as people play other games and realize it isn't so great, it diminishes.

There are still an ass load of people still playing Halo 3 a year and a half after it released. Hell, there are still quite a few people playing Halo 2 online. What makes you think it is diminishing? ODST will probably be the second best selling game this year on hd consoles. Just because you do not like it, does not mean others don't like it either.

It sold well because it was hyped to no end (There was Halo MOUNTAIN DEW, c'mon...)

Once that wore off, the game didn't really have legs.  ODST will probably sell well... but I think Halo's brandpower diminishes as people are exposed to other (read: better) games.

Around the Network

I agree. And how is 3 main titles "pimping" the series as some people say?

No I'll tell you what pimping a series is. 13 final fantasies, 6 Call of Duty's and one more coming each year, 5 guitar hero's plus spinoffs (aerosmith/metallica) and another one each year.

Give me some statistics dude.

Go to Bungie.net and you will see this:

  • Unique Players (Last 24 Hours):
    777,390

That doesn't show a game in it's declining years. 12% of the people who bought the game, played it within the last day, a year and a half after it was released.  After the release of all of these so called better games.

Also, it has sold about 1,000,000 copies within the past 18 weeks.  That is pretty darn good.

i hope there's never another one of those incredibly overrated average fpss also known by the name of Halo, sadly since so many people like dumbed down experinces i'm pretty sure we havent seen the last of it

Refer to the end of this thread for a good discussion on FPS games: http://vgchartz.com/forum/thread.php?id=65841.

And if you have more to add, I would be glad to discuss it with you.
