Forums - Gaming - how much does the Conduit need to sell first week for not being a flop??

Are you talking about a flop as in the game not selling in the range of its hype, or the game not making a profit? I think it will probably fall short on the first qualification, but the second one seems very possible to meet.

i don't have the slightess idea how much the game cost to produce but since it's in number one for april most wanted, the game must have some internet hype, we'll see for mainstream, i just want to know what people are especting from this game sellwise

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

Yeah, I wouldn't take Vgchartz hype as representative of hype in the industry. In 2008, LittleBigPlanet was by far the most popular game on the site. You couldn't even go a minute without seeing another thread about it (I don't even think I'm exaggerating here). Sales wise, it sold well, but not as much as this site made you believe it would.

I would say 45k-60k for the first week. Maybe 1.5-2 million lifetime. I don't really get the OP's guess for first week though, since when do Wii games do 1/6 their sales in a single week

look at other shooters like metroid prime 3 :370k first week and now it's at 1.5mil i don't think the game will sale a lot more then 2mil lifetime

500,000 Killzone 2 did it on a console with less than half the install base.

@BTFeather55, yea because the demographics that like FPS are the same or almost the same on the Wii and PS3. The highest selling FPS on the Wii is not even that high. It is probably MP3 (1.51 m) which is more of an adventure/FPS.  So the highest FPS is I guess Red Steel at 1.18 m followed closely by CoD:WaW which a little more than 1 million now.

Nice way to set yousr self up so you can troll the Wii some more.

@OP 100 000 first week should be ok and even less. 700 000 and  1 000 000 for lifetime is good anything above is great.

I think E3 should give this a big pre release buzz, over 130k first week ww, LTD 1-8m

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

Just being honest and generous.  If the system's best fps won't sell well on the console, then what kind of games are supposed to sell well on the Wii and what is its demographic?

WiiPablum and senior citizens and the under 6 crowd that don't know what a videogame is?

Can't say for first week really, but as long as it passes 1 million LTD I think it'll be tough for anyone to call it a flop.

As for expectations, I'm expecting it to sell about 100k first week.
