Forums - Sony - Recently upgraded to native 1080p HDTV. Rainbow 6 Vegas looks like crap.

Anybody else notice this issue on this or any other game?  I was in the middle of replaying through the game again when I got my new HDTV.  It looked fine on my 720p set, but it looks like crap on my 1080p set.  R6V2 looks beautiful.

Yea, there was some issue where it would look okay in 720p, but really blurry in 1080i/p.

What you'll have to do is force the PS3 to display a max resolution of 720p.

yeah i had the same problem, thats why i really like RSV2 cause it really look good on a 1080p TV

Call me lazy, but I would rather trade it in than go through that hassle.

How do you guys switch all these resolutions? My tv chooses all of them itself

yeah i had that issue, it was fine on 720p. Bad port I guess

The game runs @ 480P in 1080P mode IIRC. The PS3 scaler is inferior and many of the earlier PS3 games reflect this.

Tease.

I know the blurriness can be a drag, but you'd trade it in rather than easily tweaking the resolution? I mean, many games run at 720p anyway so it's not like this is that big of a deal.

on the XMB (I'm citing this off the top of my head so bear with me if it's not exactly right)- Settings > Display settings > Video output settings > HDMI > Custom > and simply uncheck 1080i and 1080p. It'll then make the switch to that resolution and the screen will go blank for a few seconds before it comes back to ask you if you want to keep those settings. Lastly, it'll then ask you if you want to edit your audio settings, but you can just say no if it's already set to how you want it.

then again killzone 2 looks beautiful on 1080p (and it isnt 1080p), so does GT5 prologue and wipeout HD =).
