No, the world wide web killed Encarta.
The Internet and Encarta could've lived happily side-by-side.

Good fuck no...I have Encarta 2009 with Microsoft Student (it's worth it for the Student software, as there is the handy math tools to automatically solve advance algebraic and geometric math problems and graphing; trust me, IT IS WORTH IT! So much easier to do homework; it solves those problems for you and shows you how to solve them; I've used multiple textbooks with it and always got the right answers) with extended content download until 2010... >:(

Encarta was the shit back in the 90s, but it's obsolete now..

The software is worth it, though...it's integrated with Office 2003/2007 and it's great for educational purposes. I don't understand it. Besides, you cannot use Wikipedia as a source when doing research papers. You are able to with Encarta, as my professors have stated so with papers.

Since I still use paper encyclopedias so I guess I never got the memo telling me to use encarta.
I used to have - and constantly read - Encarta '98.
Then I discovered Wikipedia. =D
