No one game will be a huge sales booster for the PS3, it is apparent that this is the case now.  You could pick a handful of games being released over the next year that could boost sales, but there needs to be a price cut at the same time to boost the hardware sales.

God of War 3, Uncharted 2, Final Fantasy XIII are all games that will boost sales, but Sony need to realise that a price drop as well as a new game being released is the best way to kick start a huge hardware boost.

They had a chance with LittleBigPlanet and latterly with Killzone 2.  But they haven't dropped the price of the console in nearly 18 months, so a price drop certainly is required.

To get the most impact, a price drop in Japan at the same time as FFXIII releases will make a difference.  As well as a price drop at the same time as GOW3 released in the West.



Prediction (June 12th 2017)

Permanent pricedrop for both PS4 Slim and PS4 Pro in October.

PS4 Slim $249 (October 2017)

PS4 Pro $349 (October 2017)

I think the combination of more than one game is what is needed to boost the PS3, althought I feel god of war III is up to the task.

One killer game for all three regions.
Final Fantasy XIII in Japan. God of War 3 in USA. Gran Turismo 5 in Europe.

Gran Turismo 5 Will help sales for 6 weeks
God Of War 3 Will help sales for 2 weeks
Eye Pet Will help sales for A LONG WHILE but slowly at a time

FFXIII [Amazing month]
GT5 - Very strong Spike for 2 or 3 weeks... maybe more... I don't know how well GT works in Japan, I just no that it's big.
FFVSXIII - Strong Spike

EU -

GT5 - [Amazing month followed by strong software legs and decent hardware improvement]
FFXIII Strong spike that would last for a short few weeks.
GoW3 good first week.
More games.

US

GT5 - Moves alot of HW during the first few weeks but then goes back to normal.

GT5P only sold about 3 million....and the bundle being probably less than a mil or maybe about a mil at best cuz prologue already sold close to 2 mil b4 bundle came out....there are probably over 8 million fans, EASILY...not everyone of those fans have a PS3....it WILL move system....it's pretty simple really....just cuz GT5P is out doesn't mean ALL fans of the game bought PS3 already....most of them are willing to wait for the full version to come out...just take a look at GT4 and GT4P numbers

Kingdom Hearts 3 is very well suited to the Wii - it has an interesting enough art style that the extra processing pwoer of the PS3 is unimportant. It sells best in Japan and America - the two regions in which the Wii is doing particularly well and the PS3 is doing particularly badly. It appeals to a very similar audience as the Wii itself does. And it has reached the stage where it is impossible that they started programming it for the PS3 back when it was still assumed it would be the dominant console. Why do you think it will be on the PS3?

I actually agree with you...Kingdom Hearts 3 on the Wii would actually be a better move from Square but... I still hope to see it on the PS3

I agree, but only under the assumption that Square Enix were to do it correctly, and with the games they've produced so far on the Wii this generation I'm far from convinced. Honestly though, I don't see why Square Enix needs Kingdom Hearts III in particular on the Wii. Just make a spin-off game with waggle for the Wii and keep the KHIII on the HD console(s). Everybody wins.
