Forums - Sales - Streaming Games Explosion!!!

A lot of you have probably heard of Onlive already. Well, there's was similar services announced shortly after that, by David Perry with his Gaikai service. That might not be the end though because Sony has registered a trademark PS Cloud which may or may not be anything like Onlive and like a lot of trademarks might not ever come into use.

But the idea is out there and more then one person is interested. I myself because it's just a plane good idea. No more hardware upgrades can work for more then just Games. It can work for digital music equipment which are advancing in a technological sense but not a economical sense (especially if you're like most musicians). There are tons of applications for this that don't even need to approach the capabilities Onlive is boasting.

A bunch of people are skeptical some are even angry at the thought of it. The thing to keep in mind about future changing stuff like this is it has to fill a need in order to succeed.  Failing that the technology will rarely be used. If it does fill a need it might not replace the console that are filling a different need. And if it does well, good. A $30 console doesn't sound bad to me.

Remember Onlive's system is only the first if it sucks Gaikai or some other service might offer a better system. I like Netflix Instant Watch it rules although I havent used Amazon Video On Demand it might be good for others but I'm glad there are alternatives. Both are work similarly on the Roku player we got, but one is Subscription and the other is Pay Once Watch Anytime. That how I think this idea might evolve over time.
