Mount & Blade: Warband Announced

Moving right along, Paradox Interactive and Taleworlds have officially announced the development of Mount & Blade: Warband, an expansion to last year's hit indie Action-RPG. Due out in Q3 2009, Warband will feature greatly improved visuals, 32 person multiplayer matches, more interactive environments, customizable quick battles, extended diplomatic options, new weapons and armor, combat improvements, and a new "Faction Rulers" system that allows you to become the ruler of a faction, gain followers, and recruit Lords! Here's a little snippet from the press release:

Commenting on the development of Mount&Blade: Warband, Armagan Yavuz, Producer at Taleworlds Entertainment said, “As a development team, we are used to short development circles, fast feedback from our users and the ability to have our gamers in the development loop. That is why we decided to create this expansion. We have received a large amount of requests from players for multiplayer and when we had published the game we saw an opportunity to explore this as well as additional improvements that our gamers requested. I feel that the multiplayer mode adds tremendously to the game experience.”

A short presentation on Warband is available for your viewing pleasure at YouTube. Don't miss it!

Looks sweet. I`ve played M&B on and off for more than a year. But it`s been a while since the last time I played it. This makes me want to play again.

I added it to the database awhile ago and I CAN'T FREAKIN' wait!

I mean, multiplayer. wow.
I can't even imagine the epicness of a star wars VS LOTR mod.

And that's the only thing I need is *this*. I don't need this or this. Just this PS4... And this gaming PC. - The PS4 and the Gaming PC and that's all I need... And this Xbox 360. - The PS4, the Gaming PC, and the Xbox 360, and that's all I need... And these PS3's. - The PS4, and these PS3's, and the Gaming PC, and the Xbox 360... And this Nintendo DS. - The PS4, this Xbox 360, and the Gaming PC, and the PS3's, and that's all *I* need. And that's *all* I need too. I don't need one other thing, not one... I need this. - The Gaming PC and PS4, and Xbox 360, and thePS3's . Well what are you looking at? What do you think I'm some kind of a jerk or something! - And this. That's all I need.

I am currently playing it. Always surprised me how a small studio like TW managed to create a battle system which makes more sense and is much more interesting than anything big studios like Bioware and Bethesda ever made.

Bioware made Baldur's Gate, I'll give them that.

Still, TW took a close look at Sid Meier's Pirates and made something just as fascinating. I respect them for that!

Kudos TW. :D

I am not saying MnB is better than BG or TES (if it's even possible to compare these games) Its battle system is better than in these games, however.

I'll get it... probably.

A lot of that is already available via mods but hey these guys deserve all the money they can get. The game is one of the best i've played recently.

If your a fan of true sandbox games anway.

It's like a land based Sid Meyers "Pirates!"

Agreed on the Battle System.

Bethesda should take notice.

Sweet! I bought the first one, and it looks like I'll be picking up the second one for the online multiplayer alone. I can't wait to command my Vaegir Marksmen to blot out the sun with their arrows...
