Forums - Nintendo - The choice of a Wii owner -- or why I bought non M-rated games

You seem to have a good relation with your son, I almost never talk to my dad lol.

I can't believe all of the people buying Black Knight. When will you guys learn?

Shoulda got both Madworld and either No more heroes or Okami then have the free game as the multiplayer so these freaking poorly made shovelware are not supported. ;)

I already have No More Heroes (great game) and Okami.

And in case you missed it, I picked up Madworld.

I am Mario.

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

I think it's part of the reason for why Nintendo gets so critizesed when a game like MadWorld releases, many people seem to have expected the Wii to have no violent games ever.

Personally, I think you could have picked up just one of the M-rated games, and played when you aren't playing with your son. If you even want one of those games that is

Madworld would sell a ton more with 360/PS3 versions.

PREDICTIONS:
(Predicted on 5/31/11) END of 2011 Sales - Xbox 360 = 62M;  PS3 = 59M;  Wii = 97M

Cause that worked so well with Okami, Godhand... etc on the PS2.

Nice thread... a lot of people here are forgettin' about the kids, and all the fathers who are still into videogames anyway... many Wii owners "must" have more family oriented tastes, because it's "also" a family console, that's true...

I play a lot with my kids, on both Wii and DS... my son is 9 years old, and my daughter 10 years old... and these are some of the best gaming moments i've ever had, that's for sure...

But my kids don't live with me all the time, so i also have the opportunity to play more "violent" games all by myself... even if my own tastes are not really "violent" anyway: i prefer Metroid Prime 3 and Okami to Mad World or No More Heroes, if you see what i mean... that's why i rent most of these "mature" games, and buy only a few of these...

My kids saw i bought myself Madworld, asked a few questions about it, and then moved on... they're not even curious about it, and that's fine... it's a "game for dad", and that's it...

Now, my son seems to get into the strategy genre, and wants to know more about Fire Emblem, and my girl is tryin' some Zelda all by herself for the first time... nice to see them interested in great games... :)

But great games don't equal mature games: it may happen, of course, but many violent games are totally immature, and are not that interesting... i prefer a great story, an immersive universe, a great artistic style and a great gameplay over any ultra-violence...

And i must say Mad World is graphically incredible, but the short lenght, the camera problems and the ultra-violence are a problem with me... i bought it to support the "Okami guys", but i kinda regret it, it's not really worth the full price...

Now, can't wait for Klonoa, Pikmin 2, Little King's Story, Boom Blox, Excite Bots... these are my future "family friendly" games, and i think my family will have a lot of fun with these... :)

And for me, i'm waitin' for games like Muramasa, Kizuna, Monster Hunter, Crystal Bearers, Fragile... not "M rated" games, as you can see, but not really for my kids either... or maybe in a few years... :)
