Forums - Gaming - Why has the Turn-Based JRPG Died? -- Are FF12 & KH to blame?

Random: Yes (though a lot of times in BKO I get good combo cards that I want easily sometimes. So maybe it's not totally random.)

You don't have to build a deck prior to battle every time. You do it before you enter fights (the enemies appear on screen like Tales). You can choose to configure it so you can have better cards. But that's it. And unlike Yugioh, it's a full blown adventure game. And it's also much more fun than Yugioh.

It's better than what the description says...

I didn't make any suggestions towards the quality of the game. I actually never gave you my feelings on card games in general. I merely stated that Baten Kaitos is far more removed from a traditional turnbased RPG setting than FF XII is. Nothing more, nothing less.

Baten Kaitos isn't a card game. The "cards" are more as commands than anything. It's not like you summon anything like Yugioh. That's probably a reason why it didn't sell too well, many people probably avoided it because of that (and why I avoided it for a while). If you played the game you'd know it's different.

@outlaw

I don't consider it restricting...

It you can not directly control movement then you are restricted.
