Debaptism....

thats... really stupid.

Your going through the trouble of annuling a contract with someone who you don't beleive exists.

How does that make sense?

So that the church doesn't go "we have ________ number of people baptized, therefore they are religious." When that happens the other guys say, "yeah well, we have ____________ number of people who de-batized."

No... it's a giant cashgrab scheme.

Churches don't publish numbers of people baptised.  It even says so in the article posted above.

Obviously forcing a religion upon someone is extreamly unfair. I like Millions in England have been Christened against our will when we were to youg to make a stand. I think that the child no matter of what religion should have the choice. probably after studying all the religions and choosing for themselves. Unless of course your parents, would abandon you for choosing a different religion. Infact they would be so barbaric they dont even deserve to be parents if they would disown their child for changing religion.

Who cares?  It doesn't cost you anything, and if you don't believe in it... doesn't mean anything... and is renounced with a single word.

All it does in the parents mind is save your soul in case you die of some sort of childhood disease.

I mean my parents could of inducted me in the satansits for beating up old women and childern with steel chains club for all i care when I was a little kid... because if they thought they didn't there was a 1 in a billion chance i would explode.

I mean seriously.  How do you expect that family to sleep at night if their son dies at like age 2... unbaptised... and now they think he's in hell forever... because they decided to wait just to let him choose?

Now circumcision.  That's something to bitch about.

Wtf im not religious.

You do know that Heaven and Hell was invented by catholic priests to scare the locals into doing what they say if you do not follow what they say you will have an awful afterlife in purgatory , eg donating money to the church and other stuff right?

Theres 100's of religions out there. I would prefer to take my chances and in my opinion not waste my time going to church mosque place A etc etc, to each there own i suppose. Also me saying im a Christian gives out the wrong infomation about me as it means i believe in jesus. Which is not true. I would prefer to be known as a non bleliever.

C'mon others must think the same way as i do surely?

and?

None of that has anything to do with what your parents did or why they did it.

Even if there reasoning was flawed in your eyes.  Haranging them for doing something they thought was best that didn't hurt you or effect you in any way is bullshit.

You would be asking parents who do believe this... to not do something that doesn't hurt their children in any way and in there mind protects them.

It's like yelling at a mom for giving her kids fishoil pills or something.

No no no you got it wrong. They dont believe in God. They believe in Christian ethics so to speak such as been kind and to forgive and all that great stuff. The stuff i love about my religion. But i dont see that as just reason to be christened. As i said to me been a Chritian should mean im a representative of a follower in jesus but ufortunatly thats the side i dont believe in.

Do ALL parents belive this?

There are plenty of parents who do believe they need to baptise their kids or they may go to hell if they die before they choose a religion.

The Pros of letting them baptise their child is they are at ease feeling their childs soul is safe.

The Cons are... Nothing.  There is not one downside about being baptised other then an intellectual arguement.

It would be like sueing soemone because they prayed for your health.

ok point taken well argued

you win

As an agnostic individual I have often noticed that atheists tended to be far more confused, angrier, and much less tolerant of other belief systems than any other group and acts like this just tend to re-enforce that opinion. To me, this "De-Baptism" has far less to do with expressing an individuals personal religious beliefs as much as it is an act performed to attack another groups religious beliefs ...

Its not an attack, its simply people who have been forcefully given the wrong faith.
