Becuase SONY has a trademark for announcing things on the first new day of the FY

i think that it is weird that they didn't announce this at GDC. Maybe they hadn't gotten everything worked out yet on the financials side and also if it is the new firmware with PS2 BC maybe there were some kinks that had to be ironed out first. But youir guess is as good as mine as to why they didn't announce it sooner.

I'm not convinced about PS2 BC but it if ever happened it would be HUGE.
Imagine publishers starting to make PS2 titles available on PSN....
There is huge market there for PS2 titles hard to find....
