Forums - Gaming - To hell with best and worst, what's the averagest RPG you've ever played?

This is my retaliation against all this repetive "What RPG has the best/worst _____?" threads.

What was the averagest RPG you've ever played? Not great, not terrible, just went through the motions. Okay gameplay, okay music, characters, and story. You beat it, shrugged, and moved on.

Lufia: The Ruins of Lore gets my vote.

The original Lufia for me.

Ar tonelico

PSN = vic_haste

Dragon Quest 8, playing it right now, i'm just about to fight the last boss and i must say its the most average RPG i have ever played. Every thing about the game from the characters to the story is average.

Two that come to mind are Questron, the ancient C64 RPG, and even though it's a Strat-RPG, Tactics Ogre was pretty blah. There was one SNES launch-window RPG too. Can't remember the name of it. It was a mode 7-heavy (quite choppy) RPG played from a 3rd person perspective. Not that bad, but very underwhelming.

It is possibly the oldest, easily the most profitable, surely the most vicious. It is the only one international in scope. It is the only one in which the profits are reckoned in dollars and the losses in lives"---Maj. Gen. Smedley Butler

I only finished the first barely...and 2&3 halfway
