Anyway, not counting spin-offs, my first was FFVIII which was also the first JRPG I played where I finished the entire game without upgrading my weapons XD.

If my memory serves correctly, it went something like

4, 4, 6, 6, 1, 6, 7 (but didn't finish it), 1, 2, 4, and now 6 again. I still gotta get around to 3 and 5 one of these days.

I believe FF8 was my first. If not then FF9 was my first.

(I bought my games in the summer in the US at the time)

FF Adventure (GB) .... also known as SD in japan.... (Secret of mana :p)

Loved it and purchased:
FF Legend 1 (GB)
FF Legend 2 (GB)
FF IV (SNES)

loved them (especially IV) and got (the next summer)
FF Legend 3
FF MQ (...umh...)

then followed the release of FFVI with the most self hyping I've ever had (well despite Secret of Mana I guess)... it did meet expectations =)

Rest is as it released. (did wait a year to get XII though and never got XI. Played a fansubed V but never got arround to 123... gonna play the DS versions I guess)
