Forums - General - Dear US of A, please don't f*** up

Nukes get moved around all the time, nothing wrong could of happened either. When a country has 10k nukes 6 getting moved even by accident is nothing to worry about.

This is a very depressing thread!!!

But, if they loaded six 50-ton nuclear warheads in a plane by MISTAKE... what tells you that a guy won't give some codes by mistake? lol

Probably because nobody actually knows what the codes are. This makes it literally impossible for it to slip out "accidentally" since nobody knows it to let it slip. When they need the codes they can retrieve them but how and where is probably not something they share with the public.

What I do know is they need authorization directly from the president to do so.

Seriously, Nukes can sit in burning jet fuel and not go off. I won't claim to fully understand the science behind it but I do know that a nuclear reaction is not an inherantly stable or easy thing to produce. You may be thinking "well duh its not stable its a bomb!" but you have to understand that a nuke starts a chain reaction and unless the reaction is stable it doesn't do much. It takes deliberate action and calibration by all of the components to achieve criticality and start the chain reaction.

Anyways, this was a major screwup and someone should answer for it, but thats only because we should take this stuff so seriously. I personally am not bothered in the slightest by this and if anything think its a good thing that should keep the men and women who do this job alert and on task.

A couple things: The codes are actually needed to authorize a nuclear attack, not to arm or detonate a nuclear weapon. They tell the people who are in charge of these weapons to use them - they're only necessary because, theoreticaly, these personnel are trained to be careful with the damned things.

Which is an irrelevant point if the nukes are lost anyway, which is the real concern here, not some idiotic notion about "bombing our own country." I know you didn't say that, but some of these people are really missing the point.

Damm... and sometimes we get angy because the 360 sold more than the PS3 or the Wii or what ever. Don't make war, make LOVE.

@zzetaalec
best video ever! p.s. so is this friendly fire or what?

If that plane crashed, I'd say there would have been a decent chance of detonation. The thing is, the high explosive sphere around the core has to blow, and blow evenly, or you get no compression, no fusion, and no bang....but I'll tell you something else...if there is one place I don't want hydrogen bombs, it's on a f**king big ass plane that's about to crash on me. Or...hmm.....to judge by nuclear bomb standards...anywhere within 20 miles of me. God forbid it blew in flight, an H-bomb that high up would knock out everything electronic in half this hemisphere with the EMP burst. And as I think someone already said, if those idiots can load 6 H BOMBS onto a plane WITHOUT KNOWING IT then this country is even more retarded then I thought.

Certainly a major screw up. The issue should definitely be addressed.

But nothing I'm concerned about. So many things can kill you every day as it is. I'm not too worried that I'm going to die from the unarmed nuclear bomb dropping from a B-52 flying overhead and crushing my skull. Or even dying from a B-52 crashing into my building with nuclear weapons that are not going to go off as opposed to any other plane crashing into my building that's going to kill me.

It appears half of you keep saying the plane could crash and the bombs could go off.

Atomic bombs do not work like that...they need to be activated and detonated...activated ONLY by the President. He is the only man in the world who has the codes for those bombs.

So, unless he accidently opened the football, got access to the codes, and transmitted them to the plane...we're fine hehe.

LEFT4DEAD411.COM
Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )
