PS2 pisses all over anything, in terms of offline catalogue...

Around the Network

What kind of games do you like to play? Will you have HD in the future? Will you have online in the future?

Also, the PS2 is very close to the end of its life span.  It's still getting a few games but most of them are probably not ones you are going to want to play.  Ever.

PS2 isn't a bad choice because it does have a huge catalog, but it's a near dead system.  If you do end up changing your mind in the future and get a HD TV or start going online, you will be stuck with a non-HD console that isn't getting any new games and that doesn't have any online games unless you want to buy FFXI and the accompanying hard drive.

The 360 does have a good offline catalog of games and even things like Gears of War or Halo 3 can still be enjoyed offline.  I rarely play games online and I still enjoy all of those games.

360. There a ton of decent NEXT GEN single player games on the 360 the PS2 simply can't compete with simply cause it won't be able to handle it. PS2 is so last gen playing it now just won't fell as special as it did then. Even though you don't have an HD tv the technical difference is still very obvious. Also you can play original xbox games on the 360 which are dirt cheap now. In fact a lot of 360 games are very cheap now. Plus it's got the full support of MS while the PS2 is a dying machine with hardly any new games coming out.

Trust me as a single player on the 360, you are well and truly sorted. From racing games, fighting games, wrpgs, jrpgs, fps, 3rd person, rts... your spoiled for choice!

Sure the PS2 has many good games but they are dated now and you will definately be able to tell the difference between the consoles in quality.

PlayStation 2!!!!!

Being a cricket fan is much simpler and more fun

graphics don't matter

online doesn't matter

no HDTV

prefer adventure and RPGs

Cheap system very cheap games

you won't go wrong with the PS2 tbh

and since you have a PC i'm guessing you already have all the good HD multiplatform games that are on the 360 (COD - Fallout - even L4D and Mass Effect)

so unless you really want to play Halo or Gears I guess you are not in a rush to get a 360 now

that's how I see it anyway

Get whichever one has games you want to play.

I would just get a PS2, enjoy it's dirt cheap games, and then get an XBox360 when it pricedrops or when you get an HDTV. Then enjoy it's dirt cheap games.

EDIT:  Looking at your game collection, I see that you don't list any Gamecube games.  If you don't have any, there's a lot of great Gamecube games to look into as well.  And it'll be cheaper than getting a whole new console.

Fixed. These are the GC games I have. I couldn´t find a Wavebird wireless control, so I bought a generic controller. The cable is something I hated, but I really enjoyed resident evil.

Back on subject, other thing I don't like about PS2 is that is difficult, or they don't exist, to find wireless original PS2 controllers here where I live. That's a good thing about the 360.

You dont need an HD TV to enjoy 360 graphics, and there gonna stop making games for the PS2,and 360 games are gonna get better and better.

Oh yeah, I would eventually have an HD and online in the future. But not this year for sure. Maybe in 2010. And I am getting bored today. But if I make up my mind about the 360, I am afraid I will never buy a PS2, ever... and will never know what I missed.

No, my PC is very standard. But I agree with you about the rest...

With the PS2 getting dropped to $99, why not take the punt?
