And Battlefield isn't entirely about shooting people first. It is about capturing points and vehicular combat. Being out in the open in that game is a certain death.

If you guys are going to argue game play mechanics at least argue with something tangible.

It is easy to shoot people in games where characters do not move fast in a pc game. That is a fact. Thus, in order to have players not die so easily, they alter game play to fit the input device. This is the exact same thing they do on consoles.

I'm not saying they didn't change it and why the PC's games are so fast. I'm jsut saying that after playing Quake and UT, moving the reticule over someone in a console is far simpler.

idk, I really cant get used to how slow console controls are. I literally have Killzone 2's looks speeds at 8 for side to side and 7 for up and down. That is a near perfect balance for me but really I could use a slight step down for both to match the game's frames-per-sec ratio to game pacing.

KZ2 has awful control delay,also PC games are slow,consoles are fast,look at some of the biggest selling FPS franchises,Halo fast,Gears fast,CoD fast.

consoles fast, LMFAO.

30 fps vs 60fps vs 60+fps makes a massive difference in gameplay. PC is fast no matter what, there is a reason in CS that my mouse look speed is at 9, which is a good speed but I can handle maxed out at 20 if needed.

We are not talking about look speeds, we are talking about character movement

they are one in the same. if you cant look around quick to change direction than your character's movement is slow.

All 3 games you listed are painfully slow. I quite literally mean painfully. If the best engineered human on earth in the future runs as fast as a 90-year-old with parkinson's then no wonder the Covenant was destroying us to begin with.

@JaggedSac

Took me a week or 2 to get me to the top of scoreboards in Halo, took me months for the same effect in UT.

LOL  What Halo scoreboards, because there are no console Halo scoreboards?  If you are referring to pc scoreboards, then that makes sense because it was a console game with console character movement speed and momentum ported to a pc game.  I imagine that would be incredibly easy to kill someone.  Which just goes to prove my point, that the only different between the pc and console fps games are the design decisions to take input device into account.

No, they are absolutely not the same.  I can move to the side without changing where I am viewing.  And if you know the map well enough, you do not have to look.

I meant the in-game one. The one where it says how many times I've killed the others. Guess I should have said top on frags.

@Garnett

There is far much more "sauce" when you need to know when to shock combo/rocket/whatever at the right time to get that extra frag than there is in other games.

vlad, what is your gamertag? I could look up your Halo stats as we speak. Or perhaps you were using a friends account. Very convenient. Perhaps you could give me their gamer tag and I could look at the dates you played. Either way, you are saying you could destroy mlg Halo players?

Well of course it's not mine. I didn't waste my money on a 360. I also haven't played Halo since Novemeber (I blame WoW(, but given practicec again who knows. I never compete outside of the local LAN.

...............................................................

if you want to face the complete opposite direction to face an enemy after being shot in the back because you got the red behind you bleep you have to move your mouse to move your character in a 180 degree semi circle.

Changing direction = moving your damn character, of course if you know the map you could run the map backwards using the asd and space keys. This isnt wolfenstein 3d where your enemies can rotate around in a blink of an eye. You view them moving in a circular movement.
