Wow, did you just compare a FPS to an action game? If I did that with a PS3 or 360 game, people would call me insane. By your logic, God of War 3 would track similar to Call of Duty 4.

First off, Call of Duty is an established franchise, while Madworld is not. Second, World at War released a month before the Holidays, Madworld released two months AFTER the Holidays. It will not see the same boost as World at War. Third, yet again, how is Madworld similar to World at War? Is it similar at all?

What you just did made no sense at all.

See my later reply.

I'm not saying Madworld will have equal sales to COD:Waw, my point is that your assumption about legs could well be wrong. Sales could go many ways, first week sales are not that meaningful for Wii games.

Whether it's a FPS or not it doesn't matter much, there are games with legs in several genres on the Wii. By the way it's kind of funny to complain about my comparison when you were comparing it with Zack & Wiki of all games...

But all indications show that the game will track just like Zack and Wiki and NMH. Unless the game sees a magical boost in April and May. The last time I checked no one celebrates christmas in the spring time.

There is 10 weeks of sales data in the above charts, with many more sales which don't even fit on those 10 weeks (as you can see by adding the numbers up). Unless you live in a country where the holiday season lasts for more than 20 weeks I don't see your point.

My point is that lots of Wii games have good legs, which makes first week sales not that relevant.

Just as a side question, why do people use new IPs developed by small developers in niche genres to claim that "Mature" games can't sell on the Wii and ignore the sales of games like Starwars: The Force Unleashed, Call of Duty 3, Call of Duty World at War, Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles, Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition and Red Steel which were all Million sellers?

I never expected MW to sell a lot. Is not the kind of game that sells millions of copies. Look at Okami on the PS2. Yes it was beautiful, artsy and very HARDCORE but it only pleased a small group of games. Not to average joe

So yeah it was heavily advertised and all? so what? If an average grown up videogamer see a trailer for MW the firsy though will be "that looks stupid". I have to admit that I was never interested in that game. It may be fun, sure. But the first impression is important and that was heavily mixed.

On the other hand, I think that The Conduit (the other core game from sega) will sell better because it has a more appealing look to the average user, like Halo or Gears of wars. Is no the same shooting aliens in a sci fi movie like game than killing people with a chainsaw in a comic book like black and white over the top game.

I think it will sell well after a while but not like other games (like Call of duty WAW, for example).

That's why Hype is dangerous. It makes people disconect from reality.

Why the comparisons with CoD:WaW? That's a game of the most popular hardcore genre, belonging to the most popular franchise.
Certainly the most similar game is NmH, isn't it? Over the top violent fun, weird art style and everything.

OK here are some more comparisons (with thanks to this poster):

Stars Wars shows a boost (due to the holidays) and House of the Dead is a shooter, not an action game. The only comparison that's similar is NMH.

Your comparison is more apt than you realize, since No More Heroes was a rousing success.

Star Wars, Call of Duty and Resident Evil are all established franchises, so they don't count. Red Steel was a launch title so it doesn't count.

In other words, "wake us up when a quality hardcore 3rd party non-launch non-sequel non-Christmas game sells well on the Wii".

Dude who gives a shit if people troll MadWorld?

Is it a good game? Yes.
Is it third party? Yes.
Is it exclusive to Wii? Yes.
Is it "hardcore"? Yes.

of course people are gonna troll it if it is all of the above.

for gods sake people on this site still troll LBP, a game that the media easily chose as GOTY last year.

Some of you people are ridiculous.

He didn't say it would sell the same amount or on the same curve as those other genres. He is just showing that you shouldn't expect it's sales to drop by half every week until they hit 0. Like the majority of Wii games, it won't start out with huge first weeks and then disappear forever.  Comprehension can't possibly be that difficult.
