Forums - Gaming - You guys need to stop trolling about MadWorld...

Look at the game. Seriously, look at it.

It's a black and white game about a guy with a chainsaw on his arm that's basically about causing as much carnage as you possibly can, creating a massive bloody mess over the entire city. Oh, and it's made by Platinum Games. You know, those guys that have never made a commercially successful gaming, perhaps barring Viewtiful Joe.

In all honesty, how can anyone who dislikes the Wii see this as a victory? "HEY LOOK MADWORLD ISN'T SELLING MILLIONS THIS PROVES THE WII SUCKS LOL".

Well, okay, if you wanna go with that argument, fine. But then you also have to think that the PS2 sucks, because Okami sure didn't do very well there, and it had the exact same things working against it. Platinum Games, or Clover Studios as they used to be called, are artsy. That is their biggest asset and also their biggest fault. It's one of the things that make their games so special, but it also contributes to them not selling that much.

Do you think Sega went into this deal with them expecting MadWorld to sell millions? Not a chance. Anyone who expected MadWorld to be a massive seller was delusional, and anyone acting like they've "won" something because it isn't selling is being ridiculous.

This is a niche game on a mainstream console. It was never going to sell bucketloads. That said, sales seem healthy so far. It's not selling terribly. Just not particularly well either. And you know what? That's just fine.

A lot of people want to be proven right when they claim that the Wii can't sell hardcore games. That's really all this comes down to - really. It's that simple.

It's mean-spirited and petty and small, but it really is that simple.

It's still going to sell one million copies in it's first year though. Why can't people see THAT!?

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Chrizum is the best thing to happen to the internet, Period.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

Because I can't troll the Wii's sales. I have to belittle it in other ways, can't you see that?

Tease.

i reckon this game will reach gold status before the year is up... for such a niche game that is a success.

I also reckon others sales will pick up as we've seen it happen with plenty of other wii games before. To me this game is not a flop, it looks like a great game and i cant wait for the chance to play it! (just so people know the only reason why i haven't played it is because my wii is broke... and i can't fix it till i start my new job!)

360 Gamertag: PM me to find out!

I'm not a Wii hater or a troll, and I don't think we can judge this game's sales just yet.

However, it's definitely not selling well. It's selling worse than No More Heroes so far. No More Heroes sold 400k within a year. I think MadWorld has to sell 500k within a year to be really called a succes, but it's chances of doing that are looking slim.

Sure, it's niche, but it's also hyped, has decent advertizing, has good review scores, and should have good word of mouth. It just has to sell 500k damnit!

Huh, it's tracking similarly to NMH:

http://vgchartz.com/swlaunch.php?reg1=America&game1=No+More+Heroes+-+Wii&reg2=America&game2=MadWorld+-+Wii&reg3=America&game3=Okami+-+PS2&weeks=100

And even then there's way too little data on Madworld to make a judgement.

Although it's a bit behind in others.

A game I'm developing with some friends:

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.

i think is because wii fans keep saying the wii is hardcore too and not only for grandmas and little kids, so this shows that is there where hardcore gamers on the wii, with the user base that is has a game like madworld should have sold millions already, just because the lack of hardcore games on it.

Think about what happened to heavenly sword, when HS come out ps3 had no games, so people bought the game even if is way too short, same with resistance 1, it wasnt mind blowing but got praised a lot, look at what people are saying about jrpgs and the ps3, is those 360 exclusive would have come out on ps3 , the story would be different (this is what is been said not what i think).

Imagine if by now there was no gears or halo on 360 how would the sells be is those launched now, with all the 360 owners thirsty for FPS, sales would explode. Well the wii has very few hardcore games, if it really is a console for everyone like some wii owner claim every hardcore wii owner(and with a user base of 40 million this could be at least 5% and be big) should be buying every hardcore wii game, but it does not seems to be the case, if we take this as a messure of how many hardcore wii owners are out there that are willing to buy hardcore game without the nintendo brand attached, we are looking at not more than a 2.5%(if it sells 1 million copies) , you can use halo and metal gear for 360 and ps3 and see that the difference is there, 33% halo/360 and 18.5% for MGS/ps3.

The trolling on madworld is like the trolling LBP had for some months, people were saying it was on the wrong console, and that may be true

We can't afford every hardcore Wii game, and Mad World just doesn't match the tastes of many of us.

Most Wii owners who want a hardcore experience probably think of Smash Bros. or Mario first, not Mad World.
