Forums - Microsoft - MS really tries to 'break the bank' at E3?

Microsoft is going all out for E3.....Microsoft isn't that dumb to not release anything major but a couple of Halo titles.

PREDICTIONS:
(Predicted on 5/31/11) END of 2011 Sales - Xbox 360 = 62M;  PS3 = 59M;  Wii = 97M

E3 2009 = Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo all showing up with top hats on. Count on it, they will ALL impress and maybe even astound. And it will be a wonderful moment for the industry, because those of us that are being fair and impartial will be treated to 3 powerhouses pulling out all of the stops to entertain US.

Now comes the hard part. Waiting . . .

What about it? Was it a new game announcement? No. Was it an exclusive game? No. Is it a game that will move 360 hardware? No. Is it even a game that today, 7 months after the event, will be released within the next year? Almost certainly not.

In retrospect, the multiplatform FFXIII announcment was pretty pitiful. It didn't pertain to Japan, where about half the game's sales will likely come from anyway, and Final Fantasy Versus XIII still ended up 100% exclusive to PS3. Looking back on it today, I can honestly say that M.A.G. was a bigger announcment than FFXIII mulitplatform.

Disposable joke account?

Current-gen game collection uploaded on the profile, full of win and good games; also most of my PC games. Lucasfilm Games/LucasArts 1982-2008 (Requiescat In Pace).

thhey really need to talk about some of there games. i swear i would have switched(again) over to the sony side if not for viva pinata. the second that it goes multiplatform im jumping ship.

They do talk about their games. Don't confuse Nintendo with MS and Sony, they do talk till their blue in the face. Maybe they don't have anything or, like Nintendo, are saving up for a mother f---ing light show.

E3 is where its at and you better believe the other 2 are going to bring it

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

MS said last year that E3 is when they were going to announce the holiday 09 lineup.

FFXIII multiplatform was the biggest fanboy total meltdown I've ever seen. 100% top secret to the end too.

Yet, today, America's leaders are reenacting every folly that brought these great powers [Russia, Germany, and Japan] to ruin -- from arrogance and hubris, to assertions of global hegemony, to imperial overstretch, to trumpeting new 'crusades,' to handing out war guarantees to regions and countries where Americans have never fought before. We are piling up the kind of commitments that produced the greatest disasters of the twentieth century.

Yeah, I don't care much for FFXIII, but that was a HUGE meltdown.  People were literally in tears over it.  100% ridiculous.......but true.

Anyway, back on topic, I was disappointed by GDC this year, but if that makes E3 that much better, I'm all for it.  E3 has always been where it's at for me.  I love the coverage and the hype and everything.  And it feels like E3 is starting to make a comeback after a brief period of time where it looked like it might go away for good.  I think I heard there is more floor space booked this year than last year.   Can anyone confirm that?

I would love to see them announce Gears 3 at E3.  I am very much ready for some more of that series.

This time, there is not a huge game, of course Modern Warfare 2 will sell well, but the CoD-games get yearly releases anyway, just like Madden or Fifa. So this was not a shocker at all.

Modern Warfare 2 is not a Call of Duty game anymore.

i have said several time GDC is not a usual method of revealing games. That is saved for E3. But yes i think M$ could easily have a successful E3. Weve seen Sonys hand already and they will win E3 if M$ does not show something amazing.
